Rescue Me ID: 15-04-21-00390Montana (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Montana is a red/white 2 year old male husky mix, about 52 pounds, and ready to settle down in his forever home. He came to us as a stray and was obviously well cared for and loved. He is clean in his run and has lots of energy. Montana is current on all shots, heartworm negative, and will be neutered before adoption. Because he is energetic and likes routines, we feel he would do best as an only pet in an adult household with someone who understands huskies and their need for structure, activity and attention, or with a rescue who is familiar with huskies

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

If I had to write my own puppy dating profile it would probably read: Big fluffy goober puppy seeks fur-ever home! I'm Clyde... pulled today from the Tazewell shelter. I am around 2 yrs old & still havef LOTS of puppy energy and a wonderful singing voice. I need some work on my leash manners but I ride well in the car. I may be a little much for some other dogs because I do have a lot of energy so the rescue is going to require a few 'play dates' with any interested homes that have other dogs for that reason. I am UTD on shots & will be neutered and HW tested prior to moving into my new home.

I have had a this dog since he was a puppy, but unfortunately we have to move and we can not take him with us. Putting him in a shelter is just not an option for this loving dog. He loves attention and is calm. He was crate trained and likes to sleep in his crate, he also likes to go in there when he wants to be left alone. I have 5 children and he has always done well with them. I do have the papers for him and is up to date on all his vaccines. This is a very hard decision for our family so please no rude comments as we do love our dog but circumstances are forcing us to get rid of him. He is an older dog an that should be taken into ... (Read More)consideration before considering, we only want him going to a good home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-02-00529Sheba (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sheba is a well house-trained Akita-Husky mix. We adopted her at 6 years old from a single adult female, but unfortunately she has not adapted to living with children. She likes some dogs but is very alpha-dominant. Sheba is great with all adults, but unpredictable with young children. She is a very calm dog and only requires twice a day walks, only barks when someone is at the door, and is very healthy. She loves to sleep by the front door and guard the house. She would be perfect in a home with adults/ teenagers (no small children or other pets).

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-13-00087Van Gogh (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

To anyone interested in Van, I will follow up with where he will be living, making sure you are allowed to have dogs on your property if you rent. If you are moving across country or to a different country soon, Van is not for you. Van should be kept up to date on all shots and heart worm prevention, he has already been through enough. Experience with dogs is a plus. Van Gogh is an extremely friendly dog, as you can see from the picture. Since I am an artist, I decided to name all my animals names of famous artists, he seems to like it :). I rescued Van from a shelter last August, he was extremely underweight and covered in urine; I had ... (Read More)to get him out of the kill shelter. I have always had intentions to re-home Van due to my other 3 animals and 3 sons/children. Additionally, my house is not very large. Van does well with a leash, but will pull when he sees another dog. He started in a kennel at first, did fine until I moved it into a back room, what a mess. He now sleeps in his dog bed in the living room with the occasional accident in the morning. Another factor that may be an issue; he climbs fences though stays close if another dog is with him. I have him on a invisible fence, he does well. My schedule does not allow me to train a dog at this time, I have 3 children, I am a full time student, my husband and I own a DJ business, and I work in a gallery. With the right training and love, Van should be fine, he has already came a long way. Starting at 48 pounds when I adopted him, he is now around 65 and still needs to gain about 10 or less pounds and he is approximately 2 years old. Feel free to text any time or call after 7pm. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Fritz is one of two husky/mix bonded dogs we got from the SPCA about 4-5 yrs ago, is neutered, chipped, and has all his shots. Appeared to have been abused previously - does not want to come into a house easily. Very good around kids and adults. We have two problems: 1) Our yard is not big enough for these dogs but 2) and more importantly, Fritz has a problem with his ACL (right rear leg) and we simply cannot afford the cost of surgery, Doesn't appear in pain but obviously favors it. Am hopeful to find a home with someone that might be able to have the surgery performed for him. As I said, he is half of a bonded pair. Mac is the other husky ... (Read More)mix, with same behaviors. He is dark colored and has the 'blue eye - orange eye combo'. We really would prefer that they stay together, and rather than enter Mac here too, can send pics of the dog to interested parties. Am willing to deliver to anyone that is willing and able to get Fritz the surgery required. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Virginia
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
