Rescue Me ID: 14-07-22-00239Riley (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Riley. I was born on 26 May 2013 in a small town in Texas. I was rescued by my mommy right as I was about to be taken to the pound. Shortly after my mommy got a new job and we had to move to Virginia. I've never been away from my mom or my Sister Esim a lab mix but due to my mom's new job having long hours and living in a potentially dangerous place for me she can no longer keep my sister and I. I'm very friendly and love attention from whoever is willing to give it to me. I'm black mostly with some light brown and white areas on me. I've also been blessed with one blue and one brown eye. I'm spayed, current on my ... (Read More)vaccinations, microchipped, and I'm covered on a Banfield wellness plan at Petsmart until February 2015. I weigh about sixty pounds and love to run around my yard playing keep away from my sister or chasing sticks/balls thrown my way to fetch. I know some basic commands and while I'm not always the fastest learner I'm very eager to please so as long as you're willing to teach me I'm willing to learn (especially when given praise and treats). I'd love to go on runs with you or just lounge around and watch tv too I especially love affection and cuddling. I can't wait to love and be loved by you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-17-00008Foxy and Red (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have 2 wolfdog mixes that I are not able to take with me on an international move. I am being deployed to Europe for the US Army, and cannot take my dogs with me. They are a fertile, healthy breeding pair. I need to find them a good home where they will be cared for, loved, and treated as part of the family. I do not need a rehoming fee, but I must feel confident that they are going to a family that will value and love them. I would prefer that they go to someone who lives outside of the city and has some acreage, or minimally a large fenced in yard. They love space to roam and play in. My male (Red) is 90 lbs and my female (Foxy) ... (Read More)is 50 lbs. They have bred only one litter of puppies so far. The puppies were gorgeous and I have many pictures of them, though I want to be SURE that they will NOT be used as a puppy mill. The description my beautiful wolfdogs follows: Foxy is a gorgeous 5 year old high content (90%+) wolfdog. She weighs 50 lbs, is extremely smart, somewhat high strung, and VERY loyal. Her parentage is as follows: Foxy's Mother is 'Kyota' 99% Wolf - (Mckenzie Valley timber & Montana black) 1% Malamute Foxy's Father is 'Cane' 94% to 96% Wolf - (Arctic White) 4% to 6% Husky Red is a big, gentle natured medium content (70%) wolfdog. He is excellent around children and adults, minds well, and is very obedient, intelligent, and gentle natured. He weighs 90 lbs, and has proven to be a good guard dog, as he intimidates strangers with his size, and barks like crazy if anyone he does not know comes around. His parentage is as follows: Red's Mother was 74% Wolf - (Mckenzie Valley timber) 26% Husky Red's Father was 'Glacier' 80% Wolf - (Arctic - Timber - Tundra) 20% Husky This is a GREAT opportunity for the right perspective owners. My main goal is to be sure that they are loved, cared for, and receive a good home. I will allow them to be separated, but would prefer not to if possible, as they have grown attached to each other. They have both been well cared for, are up to date on all of their shots, and have been fed top of the line dog food ever since I have owned them. Please call me at 702-715-6287 or email me if you would be interested in owning one or both of these awesome gorgeous dogs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-16-00303Keisha (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dedicated Loyal Shadow-Type Loving Girl Seeking Special Person/Family How could anyone resist this face?! And.....she is NOT your typical Husky! Keisha is very laid back, easy going and calm. She loves being off-leash! Her biggest concern and main focus in life is BEING WITH YOU! Keisha has this piercing blue eye and a permanent wink on the other one. She is loving and sweet. She is an excellent rider in the car and enjoys hikes and walks. She is friendly with people and really enjoys her family time, is great in the home (housetrained) and is good with cats too! Keisha just hangs with you all the time - she follows you to the garden, ... (Read More)hangs out on the dog bed while you work on the computer or cook in the kitchen and is content at night just laying on a bed next to yours or might enjoy the kids room too.....She is GREAT with KIDS! She is really one of the best all around dogs we have ever met - truly just a GREAT dog in all aspects (good with kids, housetrained, good in the car, quiet and easy going, loyal, dedicated, friendly, loving, adorable)! Keisha just has one issue that you need to work with and other than that she is nearly the Perfect Dog! That issue is she cannot be alone! Keisha has separation anxiety of a pretty extreme level. All she wants is to be with you! She can be crated MINIMALLY (like a couple hours while you are at the movies or family dinner out) but requires a LG crate and it must have sturdy multiple clips on the doors or she will tear it up getting out and then if she finds herself home alone she gets worried and can be destructive. A fenced yard is nice but she WILL get out if you are not with her... so the yard doesn't really matter much to her. Keisha must have a home where she can be WITH YOU 20 hrs out of every day so needs a retired couple or a stay-at-home parent type home. She could be a farm dog that goes EVERYWHERE with you! She has been in/out of a foster home that loves her but they are going on vacation for 6 weeks and she really doesn't have many options that suit her needs! We are reaching out to find anyone we can that could offer her a long-term foster or forever adoptive home! Keisha was originally pulled from a kill-shelter in the nick of time with 7 pups - all pups have been raised and adopted - now its her turn! Keisha is approx 3 years old, is spayed, microchipped, utd on vaccines and deworming, she is HW negative and on monthly prevention! She is currently not located at the clinic but in the foster home. Please make an appointment to meet her. You must turn in an application and be pre-approved before meeting her. If you are interested in fostering or adopting please contact us at 276-579-4215 To submit an application please visit: http://www.mmahrescue.org/mmahr/adoption-application (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-03-14-00235Fritz (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Fritz is one of two husky/mix bonded dogs we got from the SPCA about 4-5 yrs ago, is neutered, chipped, and has all his shots. Appeared to have been abused previously - does not want to come into a house easily. Very good around kids and adults. We have two problems: 1) Our yard is not big enough for these dogs but 2) and more importantly, Fritz has a problem with his ACL (right rear leg) and we simply cannot afford the cost of surgery, Doesn't appear in pain but obviously favors it. Am hopeful to find a home with someone that might be able to have the surgery performed for him. As I said, he is half of a bonded pair. Mac is the other husky ... (Read More)mix, with same behaviors. He is dark colored and has the 'blue eye - orange eye combo'. We really would prefer that they stay together, and rather than enter Mac here too, can send pics of the dog to interested parties. Am willing to deliver to anyone that is willing and able to get Fritz the surgery required. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Virginia
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
