Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Denali is a very good-natured dog, needs room to roam and we are moving north where we cannot take him. He is not really house trained- you can't take your eyes off of him inside but he is crate trained. He is super friendly to everyone and can be unintentionally rough with kids as in knocking them down by accident but he loves them! He loves everyone including other dogs. He's never been around a cat though I would expect him to be good with one. He's so-so as far as listening to commands but if you are more firm I think you may have better luck! He likes lots of time outside. He always listens better for a while after long walks. He has ... (Read More)some anxiety at the vet. We really hate to lose him but hope he can find a good home! Rescue Me ID: 15-07-11-00222Dixie (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Dixie is a sweetheart! She was surrendered to a shelter by her owner who decided he couldn't take her with him when he moved. We think she looks like a Husky/Border Collie mix, but only because of her physical features, personality wise she's pretty laid back and has an average energy level. She loves her snuggle time just as much as her walks. She knows she's cute and tends to show off her prance as she walks through the neighborhood. She's great with kids and other dogs if properly introduced. She has impeccable house manners; doesn't beg for people food or destroy anything, even kid toys she leaves for the kids. Dixie aims to please and ... (Read More)you'll find her right next to you waiting for a belly rub. She's not a quick eater and tends to eat when she has company in the kitchen. She is allergic to grain so only grain free dog food for her which she is still getting used to. Overall Dixie is a wonderful loving dog waiting for her forever home. Want to meet me?     Hello I am looking for a home for my beautiful puppy Bud. He is a gorgeous Golden retriever and husky mix. Bud is 7 months old, neutered, utd on shots. He is housebroken and crate trained, and awesome with kids (except being a little hyper at playtimes). Bud looks more golden retriever, other than his long wolf like nose and he is bi-eyed (one blue and one brownish green). His parents are my little sisters dogs and i do have pictures as well of them. My phone wont let me upload but i am happy to send them tomorrow! This is breaking my heart to sit and write this post but due to my new found complicated pregnancy I am forced to give up my ... (Read More)beloved dogs. He is terrific with other pets (very playful and sweet). He deffinitley has the golden personality and loyalty. Bud does not have any health or behavioral problems, but I have fed him an all natural grain free dog food since he was 8 weeks old (hill's science diet for large breed puppies). It can run a little expensive but he really loves it and it keeps his coat and skin beautiful , long , silky, and golden lol. He just had his first teeth cleaning as well. I am asking a $250 re-homing/ adoption fee. He will come fully utd on vaccines, neutered, and have the supplies necessary for his care including his crate. Please email for pictures, and any questions that you may have regarding Bud. I will only adopt him to a serious owner, preferably with children and no he is not free nor will he be FREE. The adoption fee is firm. (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Three years ago, Zeus was born on a farm in North Carolina to a Siberian Husky father and a Golden Lab mother. Zeus was the pride of the litter. He lived at the farm until he was purchased by his former family. Zeus lived with them in a small one bedroom apartment in NJ. Seven weeks ago, his owners decided that they could not take care of him due to their long work hours and on-going disagreements between Zeus and their two cats. This handsome guy is very friendly and likes people. Zeus is about 2 years old and weighs 65-70 lbs. He is an athlete at heart and would like to have a running partner. Zeus would also enjoy someone that shares his ... (Read More)enthusiasm for the great outdoors. This sweet, playful guy has LOTS of energy. His ideal home will be with an active person or family who will give him vigorous daily exercise and would preferably have a fenced yard. Zeus would probably do best as an only pet. However, he might do well residing with a female dog. Zeus cannot be placed in a home with young children, male dogs or cats. Do you think he might be a match for you? He will give his heart to you if you will just love him. If you are interested in adopting Zeus, please contact Mercedes at 703-505-6136. (Less)

Eddie hikes with ease ... Until he sees wheels turning. He has a strong urge to chase moving wheels. Sigh. That's the down side of Eddie. He wears a gentle leader, adores his hiking companion, and readily redirects. That's the good news. Eddie fixes his light green eyes on yours and just wants a kind hand and a partner for adventure!

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-01-00689Kaiser (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Kaiser is an amazing, loving dog. He would be perfect for someone who doesn't have/want kids that can give him lots of love, and someone who doesn't entertain and have people over often. He has anxiety with strangers and been known to bite when people he doesn't know try to pet him. Once he trusts you fully he's very loyal. He's a great dog, I truly love him with all of my heart, but my husband and I are trying to start a family and he's not compatible with kids. He's crate trained and knows basic commands. He walks very well on a leash. He responds well to positive reinforcement training, but not very well to dominance training ... (Read More)(makes him more anxious). He weighs 45 pounds and has gorgeous blue eyes. He was in a shelter for 2 years and I've had him for about 6. If I can't find a home for him he will have to be euthanized, and that breaks my heart. I'm willing to bring him anywhere if it's a good home. I would like to have several introduction sessions with a new owner to make sure he's a good fit for you and to help you learn what makes him tick so you'll have a smooth transition and a wonderful life together. He doesn't get along with dogs (or cats) he doesn't know, but he's best friends with our border collie. I don't think it would be impossible for him to get along with another dog he lives with, I'm not sure though. He's not a dog park kind of dog. (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Fritz is one of two husky/mix bonded dogs we got from the SPCA about 4-5 yrs ago, is neutered, chipped, and has all his shots. Appeared to have been abused previously - does not want to come into a house easily. Very good around kids and adults. We have two problems: 1) Our yard is not big enough for these dogs but 2) and more importantly, Fritz has a problem with his ACL (right rear leg) and we simply cannot afford the cost of surgery, Doesn't appear in pain but obviously favors it. Am hopeful to find a home with someone that might be able to have the surgery performed for him. As I said, he is half of a bonded pair. Mac is the other husky ... (Read More)mix, with same behaviors. He is dark colored and has the 'blue eye - orange eye combo'. We really would prefer that they stay together, and rather than enter Mac here too, can send pics of the dog to interested parties. Am willing to deliver to anyone that is willing and able to get Fritz the surgery required. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Virginia
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
