Rescue Me ID: 17-10-22-00128Finn (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered

I rescued this pups from the Baytown Animal Shelter, and named him Finn. He was on his last day, so I wanted to foster him until I found him a new home. I've had him since the end of July so it's definitely time for a new home. He's a VERY sweet, cuddly lap dog. He's very good with other dogs and cats, and around my 5 year old. He's neutered and has his rabies vaccination, and he was dewormed when I rescued him because the animal shelter didn't do it. He is also house trained. He knows basic commands and words like sit, come here, go outside, he also knows 'hungry?' and food, etc, and knows how to shake paws. I don't know his breed, or ... (Read More)how old he is, but I don't think he's even a year old yet. I'm in Baytown so if anyone is interested, let me know! (Less)

Just say 'kennel' and he will run in there! He is also potty trained and will go to the door and bark at you if he needs to go.     My name is MAX! I'm soooo sweet. I am a young Malinois mix and have one GORGEOUS blue eye. I very loyal and love my foster family members. I'm deceptively small, I look little, but I'm solid muscle. I LOVE to run, I'm VERY fast! I'd make a great jogging partner or maybe perfect for Agility work. I'm a blank slate...TEACH ME! As much as I love to run, my other favorite thing is to sleep in my bed (or my foster dads big bed), be petted and give kisses. I'd love to be adopted and have a second chance at a forever home.

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-05-00362Jawz (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. The story of Jawz began on June 15th, 2017. At only 10 weeks old, he should've never been playing in the streets. Puppies don't know about cars and how fast ... (Read More)they go. But that's where he was. After he was hit he had just enough strength to crawl up onto the sidewalk. And that's where he waited. He waited all day in the Texas heat, bleeding and in pain. His lower jaw had been completely separa ted; it dangled limp from his body. Finally, a Good Samaritan called the animal control officers at Harris County animal shelter. They came as fast as they could. By then, it was 5 PM, and the hope of finding a rescue group to take him to safety was slim. Luckily, one of our awesome fosters was volunteering at the shelter when he was brought in so he immediately called our intake and foster coordinators. Without this pup being able to get immediate full service care, the shelter veterinary staff had only one option: to euthanize him. To have made him suffer alone at the shelter overnight would've been torture. K-9 Angels consulted with our vet, and Jawz went home with his foster that night. The amazing veterinarian Dr. Sharon Anderson at Memorial Veterinary Clinic was able to wire his jaw back together the next morning. The surgery took almost 4 hours because she discovered that 3 bones were completely shattered. He had to be tube fed for several weeks since he could not open his mouth for fear of him causing more damage to his jaw. His foster has a strict regiment of flushes, antibiotics, washes, and specialized foods to give multiple times a day to ensure he gets the nutrients and medicines he needs. He also had to be confined to a crate 99% of the time. Any bump to his face could result in injury that could be life threatening. If his jaw bones were to lose blood and die, the only humane option would have been to euthanize him. In July, Jawz had to have another surgery with a veterinary dental specialist to make more repairs. After that surgery he was required to wear a soft muzzle 24 hours a day to make sure that his jaw does not move. The great thing about the muzzle was that he was then allowed to eat soft food though it and no longer needed to be tube fed. He had to wear that muzzle all day until he finally got the 'all clear' from the doctor on Monday October 1st. Jawz is now about 7 months old and is full of life. He is so sweet and loves to run and play with his toys all of the time. If you are not watching him he also loves to lay in the shallow end of his foster family's pool. He is completely crate trained and is about 90% house trained (still has the occasional accident when his fosters do not see him pawing at the door to let him out fast enough). Jawz will need to go back to the veterinary dental specialist in a few months and will need some more dental work to help his teeth line up properly. Male Husky mix DOB 4-15-17 and currently weighs around 40 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Hi, my name is KC. I was found alone at a Circle K (hence my name!)near Mathis, TX. I was very healthy, clean and happy someone found me.     Meet Tucker! This handsome hound was rescued from a shelter, where he was running out of time. Now, he is hanging out with us until he finds a new home! Tucker is looking for a family who knows and understands the Husky breed! To learn more, see Dog's 101 at https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/dogs-101/videos/siberian-husky. This pretty boy is ALL athlete, and a true testament to his breed. He loves to run, and never tires so for those of you who are already on the trails, or looking to get off the couch more, this boy would make an excellent partner. He excels at just about anything including hiking, biking, trailing, swimming, and ... (Read More)boating! He is ALL husky, and is your average build at around 50 lbs. He loves to talk, as most of his breed do, and enjoys engaging in adorable conversations that seem to turn pretty one sided near the end of it! He is extremely smart, and learns quickly! Though as they say, you can't outsmart a husky, they can be stubborn when they want to! Not to worry though, Tucker has manners and for the majority of the time, knows how to use them! He gets along well with most dogs, but can be a typical jester. He can pick on them at times when the play is over, as most huskies do, but a game of tag, keep away or fetch always grabs his attention! As most of his breed, he can be over confident and driven so a home without cats would be best for Tucker, since prey drive is common with his breed. As for children, like most Huskies they enjoy children because they themselves are pretty childish in personality and nature. However, we prefer a home who has experience with this breed, as they can be mouthy in their play. So older children or those with breed experience, is preferred!     Need Gentle Kisses? Then Miz Souffle is the lil' Southern Lady for you!!! Super sweet and gentle with everyone, she is a favorite with whomever meets her and at Doggie Daycare. She may have had a broken pelvis but this girl takes it in stride and enjoys her walks, daycare activities and running in the yard teasing her foster sister Noshy. Let me clarify the last bit, she teases Noshy then runs away to hide behind me :P Note: with humans she can be mouthy and grab your hand in play but will not break skin. And you should see her stamp her little paws when playing with her foster brother Max - you could just die of cuteness overload!!! She ... (Read More)knows how to use a dog door, is leash trained and will come (90% of the time) when called. With an open gate you need to watch her like a hawk as she will try to run past you for a walk about the neighborhood - Souffle 2, Humom 0. She is not a jogging buddy due to her old injuries but she loves a good walk where she can try to chase squirrels or cats. Yup she has high prey drive - no little critters in her future furever family. It would be great if she had some human or fur siblings to keep her company in her new home as she is very social - once she gets to know you. She would not do well with very Hyper Dogs or Children. The shelter reached out to us about taking her into rescue. She does like to nip and 'bite' to get her way so she needs an experienced owner to help her realize that is not acceptable behavior

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Akela is a tiny little girl (34lbs), full of the energy of a husky twice her size as she can outlast 5 of her foster siblings at times! She is very smart and learns quickly - picked up how to use the doggy door and crate training very easily, though still working on her counter-surfing! Akela would benefit from a doggy playmate but she can be very bossy and hasn't learned when to stop at times. Still working on some resource guarding. She is also extremely human-affectionate; she's never met a stranger. She loves to cuddle and get loving often times butting in on her foster siblings! She likes her kennel and will often go in mid-day to take ... (Read More)a nap and chew on a bone in peace. She sleeps in it through the night. She is being fostered in SW Louisiana!! Originally adopted 5/6/2017; returned 5/20/2017 thru no fault of her own, resident dog was not happy with a fur-sister. (Less)

Romeo is done with his heartworm treatment and ready for his Fur-ever home!! This boy is very sweet and loves to play! He has high energy according to his foster mom and gets the zoomies several times a day especially now that it is cooler! He loves the dog park and he loves water!!! He will sit when commanded and still learning more manners everyday. He pulls a little bit on walks but for the most part walks well with his foster pack. He has some dominant traits in him and would like to be the boss, but his brothers are older and larger so he is stuck at the bottom of the totem pole! When he first came home, he showed some food aggression ... He will still try to mark occasionally but usually pretty good. He is close with a younger husky sibling and has bonded well so he would do best in a home with other dogs, preferably submissive! He loves to chase squirrels so cats are probably out for him, although he has not been formally tested (Less)

We are also looking into a special trainer and/or behavioralist consult to help us work thru her issues with meeting new humans. With her foster family she is very sweet and a smart girl.     Malachi (my Angel in Hebrew) is a young (1.5 yrs old) gorgeous male who is sweet, laid back yet can be playful. He is an insecure dog who doesn't need or want to interact with dogs until he has a chance to get to know them a little better. He is NOT dominant, but is insecure and fearful. Therefore he needs a patient owner who will learn how to read him and his signals to prevent any kind of adverse reaction (2+ months). He needs slow, controlled introductions to other dogs especially in new environments. This is not just basic obedience training that's needed as he's pretty good with commands, loose leash walking, etc. It's a behavior ... He would be best as an only dog but he can co-exist with other dogs IF the new owner is patient and willing to work with him to establish the rules and limits which can take a couple of months or longer as well as behavioral training. He needs and wants to trust his humans. He is NOT a dog park or event dog...right now but he has potential to be in the distant future. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Texas
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies are named after tribes of Inuits called Huskies. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
