Rescue Me ID: 15-11-23-00256Princess Akira (female)
Princess Akira came into our life about 5 years ago. She was a pregnant with our dog, Fuug's, puppies. Akira loves children, does fairly well with other dogs, as long as they are slowly introduced to each other. She is playful and loves her tummy scratched. I will be adding a picture of Akira as soon as my daughter can send one to me. She has the beautiful coloring of a Siberian Husky, with the white head, crystal blue eyes, and the whites and grey shades in her long haired coat. She needs a home in the country. We have 47.5 acres and she runs the property and surrounding area. I believe she was house trained at one time, if you wanted to bring her into your home in the colder weather. We do have a very large dog house you could take with you, for her. We put straw in it in the winter time to help keep her warm. The reason we need to have Princess Akira adopted is; we moved to Charlotte,NC last April and we live in a small 1 bedroom apt., which she would never be happy in. Our daughter has been living in our home in TN and taking care of our dogs. Our house sold and is set to close on December 4, 2015 and the new owner wants to take possession of the property on that same day. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-11-16-00441Cheyenne (female)
Take a look at this beautiful girl! Cheyenne is a 2 year old Siberian Husky mix. She was another local dog we saved from a high kill shelter. She had been adopted once but returned and we knew we had to help save her life as most dogs who are adopted out and returned are put to sleep. The reasoning why she was returned to the pound was she had never been on a leash before and the people didn't want to put the effort into training her. We pulled her from the pound and took her to the vet. We received the news no rescue wants to hear. She was heartworm positive. We immediately got her started on her treatment. During this time, we learned a lot about her. Cheyenne wants to feel safe. This is all she longs for in life. We assume Cheyenne was moved around a lot when she was a puppy and she is afraid to leave where she is comfortable. We are working with her still on this but she is making huge leaps. In the beginning, when you would put her on a leash she would take two steps then wrap her legs around your legs (yes, she would hug your legs). Her foster mom is making wonderful progress with this issue, but once she learns where she is she doesn't have to be on a leash as she doesn't want to leave her human. She is a very loyal girl who just wants a family to be understanding that it takes her time to feel that security. We also feel she would do best in a home where the family doesn't take a lot of trips or very active. Cheyenne loves her foster family and especially the children. She is very gentle towards the toddler in the family as well. She is also great with the foster dog brothers and sisters. She loves to prance around the yard and play with the others. She is current on all vaccines, heartworm negative, on monthly prevention, and spayed. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-11-00057Charlie (male)
Sweet Charlie has been at the shelter since February that's right he has been homeless for 8 MONTHS. That is 8 months of wonderful companionship, some family has missed out on. Charlie is now 3 yrs old, he is a retriever/husky mix, weighing about 60 pounds. Charlie is a love, almost always has a smile on his face. He enjoys going for walks, playing, giving and receiving hugs and kisses and even walks well on a leash. He has been working on some basic commands with one of our wonderful volunteers and is doing great, he is a very smart boy. Charlie gets along great with people and other animals. He is UTD on his vaccinations, HW negative and on preventative. This month in celebration of shelter dogs, Charlie's adoption fee is only $45.00. Please come meet this wonderful boy, don't let him sit in a kennel another night without a family to love, his time is now, he needs you to make his dreams come true. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Tennessee
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
