Rescue Me ID: 16-11-29-00197Skye (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 11/3/2016 Reason for being in rescue: An employee witnessed Skye being shoved out of a car as they left her on the side of the road. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None known. Weight: 38 lbs Height: Estimated 23' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $225 Fence needed? No, Skye's curious nature leads her to jump fences. What kind of home would be best for me? A active home with lots of love. What is my personality like? This spirited baby was seen being dumped out on the side of the road, but she doesn't let her weary past effect her love. Skye is as curious as she is cute and will tend to ... (Read More)pull you in every which direction she can while on a leash. She is fantastic with all dogs of every size and meets no strangers. She is a bit cautious around people she doesn't know, (who could blame her) but within minutes she is your best friend! She finds toys interesting, by isn't quite sure what to do with them. She's ok with treats, but tends to need a firm hand when being brought in from a bathroom break since treats don't really work well with her. Her eyes are what make her unique, but there's so much more to love about her. I would recommend a very active home with children ranging at ages 10+ that can play along with her. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 11/3/2014 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.     Meet Lady! Age: est birthdate 3/9/09 Breed: your guess is as good as ours, but we believe shepherd/husky mix. She has one blue eye. Weight: 65lbs Training: House, crate, and leash trained. She knows basic commands and very eager to please! Personality: Lady is a total love bug. She LOVES attention and is very eager to please you. She does great with most other dogs, although she would prefer not to share her attention! She doesn't mind the cat at all, in fact, she probably prefers him over the dogs. Lady adores people, but would do best in a home without small children (under 12). Lady was rescued as a young pup and has lived in a home most ... (Read More)of her life. While Lady is a great dog and will make a FABULOUS companion, she does have a few habits. Lady does not like to share her food or bones (with other dogs). This is not a problem for us, as we do not feed the animals together, but realize this could be an issue in some homes. Lady will make a very lucky someone a wonderful companion! (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lil Bit is a 40lbs hound/husky/beagle mix. She loves cuddles and walks, and will do lots of tricks for a treat. She's good at going on runs, but is also more than content to lay around the house. As long as she can be around the humans she's happy! All of her vaccines as well as her wellness exam and heartworm test were given in May. She's been on monthly trifexis for several years. I lost my housing situation last november and have been struggling to get back on my feet. We are couch surfing and living in a tent currently, and with the weather and my non-existent funds I feel unfit to take care of her. She loves cats and humans of any ... (Read More)age/gender. She's skittish about other dogs though, so she'd do better as an only dog - however she can be slowly introduced to the right dog (we stay at a place with one other dog a lot right now). She has sit, stay, speak, hush, high five, and lay down commands. She's incredibly smart, and picks up on routines quickly. I have a crate for her (we don't use it, but if you want it for acquainting her with a new house I've got it in storage) and food and water bowls. The rehoming fee ($20) is only to make sure she doesn't go to the wrong home. She has so much love to give and I know she'll make someone else as happy as she has made me (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed

Hi, my name is Sugar (because I am such a sweety). Im white with black spots and two beautiful blue eyes. My previous owner decided to tie me to a tree before they moved out of their house and never came back to get me. Fortunately my new friends took me in and let me live inside until they can find me a new home. I've gained some weight and look much happier these days. The family that brought me inside let me stay with their two daughters and have proven to be very good with children. I've also been very friendly and kind to the other family cat and dog. Ive must have been raised inside with my other family before being abandoned because ... (Read More)I'm potty trained and we'll mannered. Unfortunately my new friends can't afford to keep me here because of financial issues. I'm a very sweet and snuggly girl. I love to run and visit with any and every dog I see. Someone please help me find a loving forever home. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in South Carolina
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost South Carolina Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
