Needing rescue from The Village Animal Shelter! Female, large (over 60 lbs), fence houdini! We picked this girl up while she was playing at a local elementary school, and have had her for over two weeks. She has a numbered belly tattoo that doesn't match up with OKC Animal Welfare or the national tattoo registry. She knows basic commands (responds to 'sit'), and is housetrained. She is VERY sweet and loving. Our own ACO officer would take her home if he wasn't apartment-bound. She is an adventurer though. She scaled our shelter's outdoor pen (8-10 ft. chain link fence). So ultimately she'll need to be somewhere with secure fencing and/or just a lot of land. She is also NOT CAT FRIENDLY. We're not sure if she was spayed already or not, and are also unsure on breed (although perhaps she has some husky in her?). Her $45.00 adoption fee is fully refundable if her new owners bring proof within 30 days of adoption that she has received her rabies vaccine ($20 refund) and has been spayed ($25 refund). If you would like to meet this little girl, please contact Animal Control Officer Scott Haggy at (405) 751-8861, ext. 248. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-05-31-00327Rosco (male)|
Rosco is a very gentle loving dog. Tender kisses. Gentle when being fed treats. Loves to snuggle and be close. Not very vocal. House and kennel trained. Loves to dig. We have had to lay concrete around our fence to keep him from digging under and going to other yards. He does well with men. He growls around females and some kids. Has never bitten anyone but seems somewhat dominant with females and kids. He loves to go on walks. Absolutely loves to play fetch!

|Rescue Me ID: 16-05-20-00526Skye (female)|
Skye is a stunning dog, she's a beautiful furball with eyes the color of the most beautiful summer sky. I rescued her from a family who was going to have to put her down. She is very active and although I've worked effortlessly on obedience she is still in need of training. She needs a high energy family, someone to help her burn some of her own. She needs to be in a only pet home. She also needs to be in a home with older children, she's not human aggressive but she is rambunctious and could hurt a young child. Skye is attention starved, she spent a year and a half in a kennel. I've done my very best to work with her and she is very smart. She just doesn't know how to properly socialize. She is extremely dog aggressive as well as food aggressive with other pet's. She is not food aggressive to human's. The reason I'm not asking a rehoming fee is because she needs to be utd on her shots as well as obedience training. This does not mean I will not be screening the home she goes to. (Less)

Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Oklahoma if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
