A volunteer writes: Angel was surrendered to our care as a child in the home was afraid of him. Let their loss be your gain!! This well taken care of soft and easy boy is low key and gentle. Mellow would be the word I would use to describe him. We are told he is housetrained, a skill he demonstrated as soon as we left the building. He's friendly to all people and was indifferent to other dogs we passed in the park. He's a bit camera shy so it was difficult to capture how truly striking he is. He's so mellow that when I sat down to take some notes he lay down at my feet, content to have company with whom to watch the world go by. We are told ... Hello, She is a German/Husky mix. She is 2 1/2 years old and weighs over 100 lbs. She is a big dog and has been showing some aggression towards people lately. I've been looking for a new home for her as, things have come up in my life and I had to re-home my dogs. She has went to 3 homes but has come back every time as she showed aggression to the people that took her in. I am not aware as why she is like that as she is in no way like that towards me. Kira is a fun loving, energetic dog. Me and my girlfriend found her all clean and pretty wandering around our gated community in Houston, TX. We put the word out through our property manager and by going to local vet offices and local pet stores. No one claimed her. We figured someone got her because she was a cute puppy, then realized Huskies are a unique breed, and weren't properly prepared for her, so they let her loose in a nice neighborhood. We had to move back to NYC but couldn't stand leaving her with some shelter and not know what was to become of her(plus, Huskies don't belong in Texas!lol). Me and my girlfriend live in a small apt ... (Read More)with not balcony, backyard or anything. Kira deserves to have the space and attention a dog of her breed demands. She is loyal for life and the only thing that can console our hurt for giving her up is to know that she would be going to someone who can provide all the above for her. She is good with our cats (One cat doesn't bother with Kira, and the other loves to bother /play with her) So she is good with cats. I would love to give anymore info that is needed. Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
