Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Timber is a 3 year old Siberian Husky mix who weighs about 65 pounds. He's a friendly, affectionate guy with a big personality, often quite animated and talkative and sometimes a little demanding. Most of the time, however, he's calm and obedient and he always loves to have his tummy rubbed. Timber is house-trained and is generally well-mannered indoors. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with his foster brothers and sisters. He has big brown eyes and a longish coat that may point to some Australian Shepherd in his genetic heritage. He'll need a home with a playful dog as a full-time companion, secure 5 foot fencing, and ... (Read More)an owner who is experienced with high-energy dogs. Timber's adoption fee is $225. Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kaiya is a 4 year old Siberian Husky who weighs about 45 pounds. Before being surrendered to a rural shelter in northern New Mexico, she was forced to live outside and suffered frostbite to her ear tips (which have healed nicely) and a possible chemical burn to her tongue. Kaiya also has discoid lupus, a non-contagious skin condition that typically causes crusting of the nose. Discoid lupus can't be cured, but it can be managed with a good diet, nutritional supplements, and avoidance of sunlight. A home where Kaiya can be indoors during daylight hours would be beneficial. Kaiya is house-trained and is generally well-mannered, but she ... (Read More)occasionally jumps up on people and mouths their hands (common husky behaviors), so more guidance in these areas will be needed. She gets along well with other dogs but can be a bit 'bossy' at times. A friendly male dog would be an ideal companion for her. Kaiya could also do well as an only dog with a retired person who can spend lots of time with her and treat her like a princess. Kaiya's adoption fee is $225. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bodie is a 1-1/2 year old Siberian Husky (probably a mix) who weighs about 55 pounds. He was surrendered to a rural New Mexico shelter as an unneutered 1 year old, apparently for displaying behavior typical of intact young huskies. Now neutered, he's very friendly, affectionate, house-trained, and generally well-mannered indoors. He's an all-around nice guy and a wonderful companion. Bodie gets along well with most other dogs and he loves playing with huskies of both genders in his foster home. His forever home will need to have a playful dog as a full-time companion, secure 5 foot fencing, and an owner who is experienced with huskies or ... (Read More)other high-energy dogs.     Lady is a very sweet, calm dog. She just finished weaning her litter of 6 puppies. She will be spayed before she can be adopted. Lady is a little reserved with strangers at first but she quickly comes out of her shell and is very affectionate. She is very quiet and only barks if she sees something that she wants to alert you of. She LOVES to have her belly rubbed and be at your feet while you work. Her other favorite thing is to be brushed! She will make sure you get her good side and will sit patiently while you groom her. She is potty trained and rides well in the car. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Koda is a foster dog that we have had since she was 8 weeks old. She will be 4 months old on 3/26/18 and is spayed & UTD on shots. She is starting heart worm prevention meds on 4/1/18. Koda is very playful and does good with my 5 dogs (small & large). She has a lot of energy and would do best in a home with other dogs. She uses the doggy door for potty about 95% of the time, however if you do not have a doggy door, please plan on potty training her. She was a rescue and is part shepherd and part husky. She is approximately 23 lbs at just 4 months old, and has large paws to grow into - I would guess she will be a large dog (50-65 lbs). We ... (Read More)haven't done any training with her, so she will need someone who will invest the time & energy to train her and love her. She is located in Roswell NM, but can be transported for the right home. I do require a home check and have an adoption application that must be completed. The adoption fee is $150 and that will help cover the costs we have incurred with rescuing her and vetting her. Please contact me for more pics or more info. Thanks! (Less)

Pebbles is needing a new home. Her owners went into a senior home. She would be fine living in an apartment as that is where she lived with them. They took her out for frequent walks. She loves, loves, loves to go for walks. They were both in wheelchairs so she is very easy to walk. She was their constant companion. Family has taken her in but they can't really keep her. There is a lot of activity in the home and she isn't used to it. She would prefer a quieter home. There are cats, a dog, and toddlers. She seems indifferent to the cats. PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in New Mexico
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in New Mexico if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
