Rescue Me ID: 16-06-23-00003Oksana 'Oxi' (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Oksana, 'Oxi', is a very sweet adult Husky (possibly mixed, unknown), roughly 8 years old, 40lbs. She has been in our family for several years, but after some time working with her issues we have decided to try and out her in a more suitable home. She is a brown/black/white coloring, with one blue eye and one half-blue/half-brown eye. VERY friendly, enjoys walks, and lots of attention. She'll greet you every day with a hug around your waist! Some problems with young children (older children who understand boundaries would be fine). Is OK with most medium/large dogs she's been on contact with, has had a few issues with other females in ... (Read More)her territory. Recommended no cats or other small animals. Needs a well-fenced yard, does not do well with confinement (not crate trained). Has some separation issues, but generally calms down quickly and doesn't cause destruction when left alone (as long as she is not confined). Some potty training issues - used to not be an issue, but has become one in the last few months (not medical-related, vet believes stress). She'd be a great companion for someone who would like a beautiful dog who will be happy both relaxing with you on the couch or being active! She's a really wonderful dog, and we are reluctant to give her up, but after trying to work around her problems we have decided it is best for her to go to less stressful home. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Nevada
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Nevada if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
