MEET SKYE-7 year old male Husky/Shepherd Mix We have been waiting a long time to share Skye's story. Skye came to Wild Dog Rescue nearly 4 years ago. He came to us with his mate, Karma, from the Chicago area. There they were found living near a dumpster at a horse race track, a common dumping grounds for animals. Skye and Karma were inseparable at the time, however, Karma's life was cut short due to bone cancer, and Skye has been lost since. The only security he knew was gone. He didn't trust us and was very unsure about other dogs. It has taken time and a lot of patience, but Skye has found that we aren't such bad people after all. And he has even made several 4 legged friends along the way. We believe that with the right person, a lot of love and even more patience, Skye will make a great companion. He loves toys and we can even take him on walks now. He will require a fenced in yard, one at least 5 feet high. And he will not be able to go to a family with children. He will need to be in a house, so no apartments or condos for this boy. Skye is very picky and choosey about his 4 legged friends. He seems to prefer females over males, but even then, he is picky. If we could find the right match, another dog would serve as a security blanket for him and help him adjust to being a companion. Adopting Skye will take time, and probably several visits. Your opinion of this handsome guy cannot be properly formed with just one visit. He is a special guy with a sweet sweet soul. Please remember, from what we know, he has never known the love and acceptance of a human before coming here to WDR. He needs time. What he doesn't need is to spend the rest of his life in a kennel, not knowing what a dog's life should really be like. Hi everyone my name is Rascal and I'm a lab/husky mix. I am going to be a BIG boy. I'm playful and got the name Rascal for a good reason! I can be pretty hyper but also can settle in and snuggle real good. I'm all puppy for sure and a real chewing machine. With time I'll learn not to chew on shoes, plants, wood, chairs and other things, but for now I'll chew whatever I can get my teeth on. I am a german shepherd/lab mix. I am approximately 5 months old. I'm darn excited to get a home of my very own! I will be needing someone though who is willing to take me to puppy training classes. We will have a blast there. I also am looking for someone who will spend lots of time with me and not adopt me just because I'm cute. Remember I'll be a big boy real soon! I'm all up to date on my vaccines. So come on out and visit me! Oh and also, I absolutely must have a fenced in yard and the fence needs to be 6 foot high! Love, Rascal (Less)

Woofers came to us after being abandoned, without food, water or shelter. Woofers is about 9 yrs old. He is housebroken and has a great attitude! His front leg - near as the vet could figure without x-rays - was very badly damaged at the elbow. While this will always affect his gate, it should present no real problems. There is some arthritis involved. Woofers gets along with other dogs. He really likes people (the vet and techs thought he was really special and sweet natured). He is very good with children. Due to a history of kidney stones Woofers needs to always be on a special diet. Please contact Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue if you think you could give Woofers a great new home. (Less)

Good with our kids and our small dog. But does not get along with our other adult male dog. Does growl at unknown people sometimes. Has never but or attacked anyone. Kept outside as he fights with other dog and will pee in home as a dominance show. We do not have time to work with him in behaviors. Likes attention and to go for walks. Very playful.

Meet Balto!! He is a gorgeous boy that was rescued from the shelter after being seized from a hoarding situation. He was housed with over 100 other dogs, so he is used to being around them. No cats or small dogs please! He is great on leash and loves to go for bike rides. He is a very sweet boy that is eager to please and loves to snuggle up on your lap or play with a squeaky tennis ball. He is great with other dogs, both male and female, but does not do well with small dogs. He has some separation anxiety and is working on crate training. Balto is an all around awesome dog that would make a great addition to any family. If you are interested in adopting Balto. Please fill out an adoption application at... www.dawghous.com Thank You!! Meet Jack! Jack came to us from the Manistee Seizure of 2015. He is a sled dog that came from a home of neglect. He is a truly wonderful boy and great with humans! If food is involved, he will not stray much than ten feet from his human. Jack is very loving and just so happy to be with his human. He craves attention, and couches. He is a HUGE couch potato. If Jack sounds like the perfect addition to your family, please find his adoption application at www.HHSHR.com!

Meet Dublin! Dublin is a six year old male Siberian Husky who is just as sweet as can be. He is a soft-eyed boy with almost a Samoyed look to him. He is a normal, high-energy husky that loves to do zoomies! He is a bit of a picky eater but likes some small biscuits and soft treats. Dublin is great with both adults and children and good with other dogs except for intact females. He is eager to learn and please his human. Hi! My name is Cheveyo. I am a 3.5 year old husky mix. I have lots of energy but mind well. I know how to sit, wait and stay. I am very intelligent. I am house and crate trained. I love toys, and I am very playful. When I first meet people I like to try to act like the boss, so I need someone that will put me in my place right away. I would love to go to a home with someone that has husky knowledge and that will keep up on my training and show me new things to learn. I would do best in a home without very young kids only because I may jump on them and accidentally knock them down. I am up to date on all vaccines, neutered, treated for fleas and heartworm negative. I will also be chipped before leaving rescue. I should go to a home with a high wooden fence. I can and will climb even very tall wire fences. I do quite well on a least requiring minimal corrections. I do not do so well with small animals but I do wonderful with other dogs my size or bigger. NO CATS, I hate them! I would love to have a home with another energetic dog! If you want an awesome boy, that's me!! (a foster home would be considered!!) (Less)

I am a 3.5 year old husky/lab mix. I love other dogs of all sizes. I love kids and all people and am kennel and house trained. I should not be placed in a home with cats as I don't like them at all. I am very sweet and gentle. I weigh 58.9 pounds. I like to go on runs, walks and I like car rides! I know how to sit, stay, wait and if you place a treat on my paw I'll wait for you to remove it and offer it to me before I take it. Aren't I a good boy? I also walk well on a leash with minimal corrections. The husky in me though means that if I get off leash or out of a fenced area I will run and not come back. Oh I love to RUN! I have also been known to dart out doors too so you have to watch me real closely. I have what they call separation anxiety so I have to be kenneled when I'm left home alone. A 6 ft. wood or chain fence would be perfect for me. Please consider me! Fill out an adoption application here www.fewstepsfromhome.com (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-02-00534Max (male)|
Hello there! My name is Max. I have a bit of a sad story. My mommy had to give me up because I nipped at someone and bit another. It wasn't a bad bite but enough for mommy to say she was going to have to put me down. One of her friends heard about this and contacted this rescue asking for help. They thankfully saved my life. They accepted me into their program. I am a great boy once I get to know someone. I am leery of new people, especially men, but once I get to know and trust them, I'm fine. I am approximately 3.5 years old. I am a German shepherd/husky mix. I do well with most dogs but small dogs and kitties and me do not mix. Blame that on the husky side of me! I am playful and love to sit and cuddle. I know how to sit, lay down, shake, stay....so as you can see I am very very smart. When you say "go home", I know exactly what to do. That means go into my kennel. I always like to take one of my toys from my kennel with me when I go outside. I should probably be placed in a home with kids 15 years or older only. I need a stable home with mature owners. I ride wonderfully in the car and get very excited for car rides. I love to go for walks and walk wonderful on the leash. I should go to a home with a 6 foot high fenced in yard. I am a bigger boy who likes to roam and explore. So if you are experienced with a dog like me and can work on more training with me then I would LOVE to meet you! Love always, Max. (a foster home would be considered!!) (Less)

Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
