Rescue Me ID: 17-09-30-00129Nixon (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Nixon is an overall good dog but true to the Husky breed, he requires plenty of exercise and attention or he gets bored. We got him as an 8 week old puppy. He's 10 years old now. This is a difficult decision for us but we are not able to give him the attention he needs and we feel he is not happy. He's been trained through a 6 week off leash program by a very reputable trainer. He could use a bit of a refresher but he still knows his commands and would benefit greatly if the training is enforced. He is not bad with other dogs but he's very dominant and plays aggressively. As long as we've had him we've always had a cat and they've always ... (Read More)gotten along with no problems. We have three young children and he's never been aggressive with them but does not have much interest in them. He has a good temperament but when bored he likes to get into mischief. We are looking for someone who has plenty of time to give Nixon the attention he needs, preferably someone with Husky experience. (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there!! I'm Dannika ( aka Dani). I'm a 7 year old husky lab mix. But, don't let my age fool you. I act like I'm 2 years old! I have lots of energy. I'm playful, VERY sweet and love everyone I meet. I do great with all kids of any size and I'm house trained. I am also crate trained. I know how to sit, lay down and stay. Oh, and I also know how to dance! I should not be placed with kitties. I do like other dogs mainly puppies that can keep up with me! Larger dogs even ones my same size intimidate me a bit. I'm updated on all vaccines, spayed, heartworm negative and I'll be microchipped prior to leaving rescue. I'm told I'm just too cute ... (Read More)for words with my ears especially! I am a runner with the husky in me so please be aware of that. I love car rides, and I am a perfect lady in the car. I walk well on a leash with minimal pulling. I LOVE treats so I can learn pretty much anything with a good snack! If you want an all around great girl look no further! I'm here!! The kind of home I would like is of course no kitties, an active family (with or without kids), someone that would love a running buddy or walking friend and that will take me for lots of car rides to see new places and things. I should go to someone with a fenced yard as well. If I could be the only dog or maybe a home with one more energetic dog that would be perfect for me! Oh, and a home where I can get lots of attention and treats! If you could share me with friends and family I would appreciate that because you never know someone may see me and fall madly in love, I am pretty cute after all!! Wanna meet me? Please go to www.fewstepsfromhome.com to fill out the meet and greet application! I can't wait to meet you! Love, Dannika (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Michigan
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
