Rescue Me ID: 14-02-20-00500Kaiba (male)
Kaiba is an 8 month old 7/8 German Shepherd 1/8 Husky that we kept from an accidental litter of puppies. He is a sweetheart but as he has gotten older he has started scarffing down his food and then steals the other dogs food. This has led to a food aggression from our adult dogs and Kaiba now has to be locked up until the other dogs are done eating. He has started showing aggression with his dad, usually when they are competing for their humans attention. We recently both started working 6 days a week and due to his youth Kai has to be kenneled. He only gets out for 3 or 4 hours a day and he's going nuts. I'm pregnant and overwhelmed. While our older dogs are adjusting well to the recent changes Kaiba isn't, and its not fair to him. He does great with our small dog and female dog, plays with our cat and has been exposed to young children often. He is housebroke and comes when called but isn't leash trained. Please help. The longer he is subjected to these changes the more hyper and crazy he is and I really am overwhelmed. I think he'd do best as an only dog due to his food issue but would do well with an experienced family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-20-00429Macie (female)
Hi, My name is Macie. I am a sweet lab husky mix looking for my new forever home. my family could not keep me anymore because I was just too energy for them. I am a higher energy mix of two breeds so whoever adopts me must understand that they will have to exercise me daily. I get along with other dogs, and I would do well with older children, only because I tend to jump up on people and I really wouldn't want to knock a young kid down. I need to go to a home with a fenced in secure yard with at least a 6 foot fence. I am playful so a bigger yard would be great for me to romp and play in. I love to go on walks and do really well with a gentle leader head haltie. I would love to become part of your family wont you come to meet me today? or even fill out an application online? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-20-00261Atlas (male)
Hello! I have a 4 year old Siberian Husky mix. His name is Atlas, and he is a very sweet, playful and loving dog with a lot of energy. Unfortunately I had to leave him in the care of my parents, as I have moved away from home. He is not getting the proper care, attention, training, and exercise that he needs. Really for the type of breed he is, he is in a stressful situaton. He does not have enough room outside to run, he does not really ever get walked, and my parents do not really have the time and/or energy to take care of him. I cannot have him where I live as they do not allow pets, and I had a different living situation in mind when I had gotten him. It is not fair to him to keep him in this situation. He gets along well with most other dogs (especially females) but can be vey timid as he does not get interaction with other animals on a regular basis. For the first couple years of his life, my parents also had a cat. So he has been exposed to that, and never tried to hurt her; only play with her. He has never been exposed to any other animal. He has also been around young children, but not a whole lot and I am not sure how he would react unsupervised (he is extremely energetic). He knows basic commands (sit, lay down, shake) but he is definitely out of practice as he is not interacted with on a regular basis with these coomands. So, he is definitely in need of further training. A husky needs constant stimulation, attention, exercise, and interaction. I am looking for someone who is willing to take him in, and give him the right home/environment that he can thrive in; preferrably a very active person/couple/family. If you are interested, please let me know and I would be happy to further discuss! Thank you for your time. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-16-00190Kahlua (female)
My wife and I have made the difficult decision to find a new home for our 12 year old husky/beagle mix named Kahula. My wife adopted her from a shelter when she was a puppy. She is a very sweet and loving dog. When we brought our first child home last year, it made the dog very anxious and it has become clear that she does not do well around children. She would also do best as an only pet. She loves to go on short walks every day and will show you a lot of love and affection. We are not comfortable giving her to just anyone, we require a reference from a vet. It will be very hard for us to let her go, but if you think your home would be a good fit for Kahlua, please let us know. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-01-23-00293Sasha (female)
Hello! Meet Sasha. I obtained Sasha through a co-worker of mine, who said that she knew of this dog who had been chained up outside for her entire two years of life. She was worried about her being outside during a huge snowstorm we had about three weeks ago. So, I said that I would foster her until we could find her a home. My family and I would absolutely love to keep her, but she does not get along with my two cats. She is incredibly sweet and just wants to be loved. She gets along great with my 1 year old German Shepherd, although she still has some issues with being possessive of her food. She has come such a long way since we first got her. She didn't know her name (which apparently was 'Rebel') when we first got her, and after only 3 days of having her she learned her new name Sasha. She loves people, treats, playing in the snow, and cuddling. If you are interested please let me know! She would make a wonderful addition to a family with either no animals or another dog. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-04-27-00279Breanna (female)
Breanna has been through so much trauma in her five years of life. We believe she ran loose as a stray for several months or longer, forced to dine on rotting road kill. As a result of this dangerous and lonely life, she came to us weak, emaciated, and with medical issues we are currently treating. Despite all this, her loving spirit shines through. She wants to show us that she can be a good, loving dog that should belong in a house with a family once again. She can sit and shake, tricks left over from a life long left behind. She is eager to get to know the love of people once again. She would do best in a home without young kids because she is still adjusting to life with people once again. She needs an owner who understands that it will take lots of patience and love to let Breanna truly shine. Please help repair a broken dog and consider her today. Can't adopt? Consider fostering Breanna so you can teach her once again how to live in a house with a family. Email email@example.com with questions or for further information. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Michigan
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
