Rescue Me ID: 14-12-02-00635Max (male)
I have been fostering Max for about 4 months since his owners could no longer keep him. It was my intention to keep him permanently but we did not know he was not good with cats. He is a very sweet and lovable dog that needs a good home. Max is 2 years old (65lbs) and is up to date on all his shots /fixed. I would recommend training since he does like to jump on people for attention. We are looking for someone that lives in the MD/VA/DC area to keep him close. He is our current dog's brother and we would love to keep in contact with his future owners when adopted. If you are interested please email me a little about yourself and what your living situation is like. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-08-00408Bear (male)
This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Bear came to us after someone at my husband's work was unable to keep him any longer due to housing. My husband felt that temporarily coming to our house would be better than staying at a work shop alone at times. This temporary arrangement has lasted longer than expected. Unfortunately, our home is not big enough for Bear and our other dog. Bear is good with our other dog. He is playful with him and loves to be outside running around with him. When it was warmer, he enjoyed being in the shade on our patio and sleeping on the tile floor in the kitchen. Bear likes to eat and is food/treat driven. He walks well on leash and has not had any accidents in the crate or in the house. The first couple of weeks were difficult because he is a bit anxious in new environments. It was only difficult because he whined a lot. Now he loves his crate and sleeps through the night. Bear needs a family to commit to him as we have so that he feels welcome and safe. Bear is just about a year old now but still occasionally has the puppy instinct to chew. But, he loves his indestructible bone and carries it with him in the house a lot. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-28-00250Sawyer (male)
Estimated Breed: Australian Shep/Husky mix Approximate Age: 1 year Approximate Weight: 75lbs Sawyer is a very handsome, unique looking dog. He is also intelligent and friendly. He has been rescued from a rural shelter in GA and brought to the DC area in search of a loving responsible home. He has medium energy and enjoys long walks and also snuggling sessions. Sawyer is great with most other dogs; however, he can be reactive with some other dominant males. Sawyer would really benefit from doggie training classes, he is a very smart boy who would LOVE to do something to run his mind For more information on how to adopt Sawyer please visit www.k-9lifesavers.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-24-00156Branson (male)
Estimated Breed: Shepherd/Husky mix? sadly he's a shelter dog so we aren't quite sure what makes up all of his handsomeness! Approximate Age: 5 years young! Don't count him out because of his age! He has lots of love to give and wont keep you up with a puppy schedule! Approximate Weight: Currently 57 lbs but we are putting about 5-10s on this handsome guy! Estimated Breed: Shepherd/Husky mix? sadly he's a shelter dog so we aren't quite sure what makes up all of his handsomeness! Bronson is a handsome fellow who is searching for his forever home. After he was dumped off at the Georgia shelter as a stray, it's clearly evident he belonged to someone at some point. He is friendly, healthy looking and has the most soulful eyes in the world. Bronson is a great big boy who would love to be your best friend, your amigo, your confidant! Bronson is allergic to fleas and will need an pet parent to make sure he is kept up on flea and tick prevention. If a flea bites him he gets a little itchy and hair loss. Bronson is completely crate trained and prefers to sleep in his crate at night. It makes him feel safe and cozy like a doggie den! Can he be part of your world? |Rescue Me ID: 14-10-20-00584Cody (male)|
Its going to be a new year and Cody is looking for a home for the new year, he is very quiet, gentle dog that lived outside for five years until he was brought into rescue. He didn't know his name when we got him. He loves walks and going for rides. He is crate trained. He is not motivated by food, but he loves his kisses and hugs and playing with toys. He loves attention and howls when he has something to tell you. He gets along well with other dogs and loves visitors that come to the house. Cody is being treated for Cushing - he is on a low dosage of treatment given once a day at mealtime; the costs are less than we had expected. Huskies are long-lived dogs and he has many years of love left to give. He would make a great pet for someone who will give him attention and love. He'll certainly reciprocate in spades! He loves running in the yard with us and his foster sister. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and all the dogs at the dog park. He is up to date on all vaccines. An advantage of adopting an older dog is they are more settled and already house trained which may not be true for younger dogs. ___________________________________________________________________ (Less)

Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
