Rescue Me ID: 17-08-15-00259ADA (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ADA was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 26 May 2017. On 24th July at just under 3 months she weighed just over 10 pounds. ADA has been listed as a GSD/ Husky Mix. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think she breed/s is. Her mother is a petite (35 pound) husky type mix girl White with blue eyes, VICTORIOUS, but there is a chance that ADA is going to be quite a bit bigger than her. 'Ada is still a puppy and will need a dedicated family that has the time and patience to work ... (Read More)and teach her how she is expected to behave. A family who will not get angry or upset if she chews their shoes or has an accident inside. She is a baby and although very smart and responsive, she needs to be guided in her mannerisms and behavior and continue to let her beautiful personality develop. Ada is a sweet, affectionate, playful, high energy fun loving girl. She is great with other dogs and is always chasing and playing rough with her mother Victorious, who is still currently here at the rescue waiting for her forever home. Ada plays great with the other pups that are here. She has learnt to be respectful with the other adult dogs and enjoys their company. She had had little contact with humans when she arrived at the rescue and although is comfortable coming up and snuggling with me, she does take a little while to warm up to strangers. She isn't comfortable getting picked up, or carried around, but there should be not many reasons to do that with her. We do not have cats in the rescue so cannot comment on how she would behave around them. Ada does use the dog door to go outside to do her business although she will not know to let you know if she needs to go outside. Ada is young and high energy and so a family with an active lifestyle is a must. She would benefit from lots of road trips and adventures, hiking, trips to the lake, the beach and anywhere that she can burn off some of her energy and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. She will need a family that understands the importance of training and we encourage all families to work on basic and advanced training as a family so that boundaries and expectations can be set and both Maddi and her humans can learn each others body language and personalities and form a stronger bond and understanding of each other. She has not had a collar or leash on and so leash training will definitely need to be worked upon. A family that understands her initial caution of people and new places, that will help her develop her confidence and trust. Ada is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org Ada is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen. (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

'܉'ZELDA was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is SPAYED, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 12 April 2016. ZELDA was listed as a Husky / German Shepherd Dog, although she is very petite. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think she breed/s is. ZELDA is great with all of the dogs here at the rescue. She loves to run, chase and wrestle with the dogs. She enjoys chewing on hooves and Kongs when she is having quiet time. We do NOT have cats on the rescue so I am not in a ... She uses the dog door to go out to do her business, I would say she is house-trained, however, she might need to learn to let you know she needs to go outside as at the moment she has 24/7 access whenever she wants. ZELDA is a social girl and loves to be around people and other dogs, she is young and high energy and so a family with an active lifestyle is a must. By working together both ZELDA and her humans can learn each others body language and personality, expectations and boundaries can be set and with self-training a stronger bond formed. We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page! ZELDA will make a great family addition to an experienced family. She is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call her own. ZELDA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of US $500. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00444JAKE (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

JAKE was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 8 April 2016. JAKE has been listed as an Husky Mix. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think his breed/s is. JAKE was adopted from the shelter in Texas as a young puppy and then dumped a few months later in a high kill shelter. Luckily for him his microchip led him back to the Humane Society who pulled him and took him back into their care. GaDaH then took him in and transferred him to the ... (Read More)safety of the rescue in Maine. JAKE is a highly active, intelligent, fun boy. He is confident and will stand his ground with other dogs. He has not shown any signs of aggression but does have slight alpha tendencies, however, I do believe if a more dominant alpha dog was around JAKE would submit, I do not think he has strong alpha traits. Jake is a fun boy, he loves to play with his tennis ball and will chase and throw it in the air. He chews on his bone and can keep himself occupied, but he does get bored easily so it is important that his new family understands he is young, energetic and intelligent and if he does not have the mental or physical stimulation then he will get bored. He will need a family that understands the importance of training and we encourage all families to work on basic and advanced training as a family so that boundaries and expectations can be set and both Jake and his humans can learn each others body language and personalities and form a stronger bond and understanding of each other. JAKE would love to go on road trips and adventures to the beach, the lake, hiking and anywhere and everywhere you go. He is a social boy who is great with people and gets on with other dogs. We do not have cats at the rescue so we cannot comment how he would act around cats. Jake is located in the kennel building and uses the dog door to go out to the run to do his business, so I would think he will be house trained, although he might need to learn to let you know that he needs to go outside. JAKE is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00436BOLT (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BOLT was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 18 November 2015. BOLT has been listed as an Siberian Husky. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think his breed/s is. BOLT is an awesome boy with the most gorgeous blue eyes. He loves to talk to you and let you know when he is bored and needs some attention, or he will just chat along whilst he is waiting for his food. He is a great boy with a very loving, affectionate personality. He is ... (Read More)very responsive and will go in his kennel when told when I am cleaning outside, he sits on the dog bed and watches, waiting patiently for me to finish so he can come back out to check things out. He has been great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and plays well. We do not have cats at the rescue and so we are not able to comment on how he would be near or around them. BOLT is located in the kennel building and does use the dog door to go out in the run to do his business, I cannot say if he is house-trained but I am thinking he most likely is, he might just need to learn to let you know he wants to go outside. BOLT, being a husky is high maintenance when it comes to grooming, he will need at least daily brushing so he doesn't get matted and if ever he is bathed he will need to be dried thoroughly, especially the undercoat which will take a long time. Daily brushing is great for keeping control of the shedding and ensuring that he can cool down, or warm himself through the natural way that dogs do with the air flow through their coat. BOLT is a large breed boy and will need a lot of exercise both mental and physical. He is a smart boy and if left to get bored, then that is when most likely to get up to mischief. Hikes, long walks, runs on the beach, swims in the lake and of course in the winter playing in the snow, which being from Texas he has never experienced are all adventures that he would enjoy and benefit from. He rides great in the car and is happy to venture wherever you take him so that he can explore the sights, smells and sounds that the world has to offer. BOLT is very responsive and I believe training would be easy and a lot of fun. He needs a family that has the time to work with him on at least basic and advanced obedience. We recommend families work on training at home together so that boundaries and expectations can be learnt and by working together both BOLT and his family can learn more about each others personalities, and body language and thus form a stronger bond. HUSKY's are not a breed for everyone and if you are not experienced with the breed, you must do your research, apart from shedding a lot of hair all year round they are very intelligent and intelligent dogs can become a problem if they are not mentally challenged. BOLT with the right family will be a lot of fun, he is an all round great boy and has lots of love and fun to share. BOLT is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Maine
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Maine if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
