Rescue Me ID: 16-07-01-00172Riloh (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Riloh is a very loveable and sweet 'Alaskan Husky'. We took her into our family as a young couple and had no idea how much energy a husky had. Unfortunately, after 5 years, we are unable to provide her with the things she needs. We have a toddler and a new baby and she's excellent with them as well as our chihuahua mix and cat. She's very skittish due to abuse at her previous home, (where we got her from) and she's got separation anxiety. I love this dog like one of my children, but it's unfair to her to be cooped up in our house all day or stuck outside on a chain. She isn't getting exercise and is suffering from it. She needs a family ... (Read More)that can give her love AND the proper lifestyle. I just don't have the ability to do it and I can't keep making excuses and putting it off. She's not happy here and It's irresponsible for me to keep her. Please help this sweet girl. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Maine
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Maine if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost Maine Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies are named after tribes of Inuits called Huskies. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
