Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00452Ivy (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

Ivy came to us as a breeder surrender. She is so scared of humans is heartbreaking!! She was kept in a barn on a concrete floor her entire life, and she turned 2 this last November. When we brought her home we kept her in a kennel with a concrete floor for a couple days just until we knew she wasn't going to climb a fence. We then moved her to a very large fenced yard with her own little build to come and go as she pleases. When we turned her free, she ran and jumped like she had never been in grass before, she was so happy to run free. But when I get in with her she runs from me and will huddle in a corner and shake with fear. She is not a ... (Read More)fear bitter at all and with time she will probably learn to trust her humans. She needs to go to a home that is very low key. No young children making lots of noise. She needs time and patience spent on her. She also requires a fenced yard. Please let us know if you think you have the time to work with her. Thank you so much for reading about Ivy. (Less)

Meet Max. Our most handsome guy has quite the history. Max is a 2-year-old golden retriever/husky mix who bounced around to a few homes before he became a PawSwaP dog. Once in our program we had to test a couple of homes before we learned what kind of home would best suit his needs. Last year we thought we had found just the right home to accommodate some of the emotional scars that remain from his rough beginning. Unfortunately, although the family really tried, Max had to return to us. Let's start with everything that is awesome about Max. Max is a very sweet, loving, affectionate guy who is very loyal and trusting of his people. He used ... (Read More)to need a little time to warm up to strangers, but this seems to have improved quite a bit. Max is also tons of fun to play with and is pretty comical when he gets in the right mood. Max has also attended a couple of training classes where he learned leash skills and numerous commands. Max is very smart and loves to be rewarded for good behavior. He is also food motivated and willing to learn new things as much as anyone will work with him. Although he has had quite a bit of training Max is still learning. Max has shared a home with older children and has been successful. We would not recommend a home with smaller children. And here's what makes Max a tough placement. First and foremost, Max must be an only pet in his forever home. He is not good with cats nor dogs, and if given the opportunity, Max will chase both. For this reason, Max MUST have a fenced yard. Max's other issue his separation anxiety. He cannot live in an apartment because he bark as soon as he is left alone. He does eventually settle in, but it takes awhile and in the meantime could annoy neighbors sharing a common wall. Max also struggles in crates, but needs to be crated when unsupervised. It takes a little work to make him feel secure, but he does get the hang of it after some practice and has been crated in his past homes, he just doesn't love it. Max is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and is very well behaved when supervised. If you think you can offer Max a fantastic foster or forever home please complete a required application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Max will need a fenced yard and a home with no other pets. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Senior

Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures,
 Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Bleu is an extremely loyal, cuddly, and sweet senior dog. He's very laid back and is great and tolerant with most any other dogs or children. As he has not been around cats or very small animals since he was young, we aren't sure how he reacts to those. He's up to date on vaccines, has a microchip, and is on heartworm preventative meds. He does have incontinence issues and stress-induced seizures, but they're easily fixable by a trip to the veterinarian. He loves cuddles and being with his people, taking leisurely walks through parks or by the local lake, and occasionally ... (Read More)even likes to hop in for a quick swim! If he comes home with you, he'll be quick to melt your heart. He'll also come with his dog house, collar and rabies tag, food, and dog biscuits with glucosamine. We are having to relocate soon and at his age, he likely won't be able to make such a long move. He's free to a good and loving home in need of some extra sunshine and cuddles. (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ace was born 2/14/15. He is a very affectinate boy that hates to be alone. He loves car rides and any situation that puts him in the company of people. Unfortunately, the Husky in him drove him to kill a neighbor's rabbits last week! Although he does well with my indoor cats, I worry about his reliability with small animals in an open setting and/or unsupervised. I'm sure if the rabbit attack was pure instinct, but he is 'needy' and jealous of other (smaller) animals around his human. I'm confident, with the right family - and the fact that he is still quite young - these issues can be overcome. Beyond being somewhat untrustworthy ... (Read More)unsupervised around small animals, there is everything to love about him! He's alert and attentive, happy, playful, responsive to commands and learning and eager to please. He craves love and attention. He is also completely house broken. I'm gone a lot and he's home alone a lot. It isn't fair to him so I hope to find him a family that can give him the love and attention he deserves. He is a good boy! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-01-00005Harvey (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy
Health: Vaccinations Current

***PLEASE NOTE -- THIS IS A COURTESY POST. HARVEY IS WITH ANOTHER RESCUE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HIM, PLEASE EMAIL: lisa@hotblownglass.com****** Harvey Harvey-bagarvey-tooturally!! This super energetic happy go lucky fellow gets his bounding fun-loving nature from his husky/hound/pitty mixology. Harvey sure is a handsome fellow that LOVES to play with his foster siblings. He will play with whoever wants to play. His enthusiasm keeps from a serious long-term training session. We are still working on some counter surfing. He enjoys looking at what I have up there but doesn't take anything down. When Harvey first arrived on a ... (Read More)rescue transport out of Georgia, he seemed extremely thin. But having filled out, it is just his breed mix and energy level that keeps him having such a handsome physique. Harvey has overcome his crating issues, he is okay with going in and having down time, (but without bedding) Bedding is a great tugowar material. He also had to learn his collar was an okay thing! On occasion is seems as though he remembers that some had treated him badly having to do with his collar. Now, it's all excitement about the collar and leash to go for a walk. With him being part husky he will need a large fenced yard to burn off his energy. A short walk in the evening will not do!! Harvey weighs @60lbs. and is 1-2yrs old. I send all my dogs out current on shots. He is neutered and microchipped. Heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm preventative. He keeps a close eye on what's outside the fence and will sound the alarm and let you know he sees 'it'. Unknown-what he thinks about cats. He is okay with small dogs with a good introduction. Harvey has no food aggression issues. He waits for snacks with his buddies. While I work at the counter'|he is a leaner, leaning against the back or side of my leg. Adoption guidelines: I require a home visit to observe what the home living environment will be with you. I require a vet reference. 100.00 adoption fee I have found that my dogs do best when potential adopters give of their time and come to visit at least twice and hang out and walk with them and mingle and get to know them well. Especially, with the big boys and girls...can people handle a medium to large dog. And a signed contract that DSR dogs will be returned to me and Doggies Serious Rescue if it does not work out, in any time frame. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Indiana
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
