eet Pontiac. If you think he looks a lot like Runt who is also up for adoption, you would be absolutely correct; they are brothers. Pontiac is a 1.5-year-old husky/collie/lab/golden retriever mix. He likes meeting new people and getting a lot of attention. He also loves to run and play. Pontiac, just like his brothers, has spent most of his time outside in a fenced yard with two buildings as shelter. He, also like his brothers, has been very reliable to keep the buildings clean when confined. We believe that he will transfer that good behavior into an indoor home. Pontiac loves other dogs, especially his brother Runt. They love to run and ... (Read More)play together. He has not spent any time with cats, just strays who dare to wander near the fence. Pontiac has been around children as young as 4 without any issue. He will love anyone who will love him back; that's just the kind of guy he is. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where Pontiac can hang out while we bring his vetting up to date. If you are interested in helping us help Pontiac, please send us a private message on Facebook, email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com or fill out an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com. This is the first step of the foster/adoption process. Thank you! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-06-00683Runt (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Runt. His name would give you the impression that he is a little guy. However, he is anything but. Runt weighs about 75 pounds. He is a friendly guy with an outgoing personality. Runt is the brother to Buddy, who we also have available for adoption, but comes from a different litter. Runt is also a husky/lab/collie golden retriever mix and is 3 years old. We confess; this isn't a good representation of Runt's good looks. He is way more adorable than the picture shows. The problem is that he always wanted to run to the camera every time the photographers squatted down to snap a picture. Just like his brother, Runt has mostly lived ... (Read More)outside, but has access to two different shelters. He never has accidents when confined to those buildings, so we suspect that the same behavior will continue in a regular home environment. Runt is good with other dogs. He loves his brothers and sister and plays with them often. He chases neighborhood cats who jump on the fence, but otherwise doesn't have the chance to interact with cats much. He has been around children as young as 4, but he is a little bouncy when he's excited. We recommend that the children be steady on their feet and comfortable around larger, exuberant dogs. Runt is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home so that we can get him brought up to date on his vetting. If you are interested or if you have any questions, please send us a private message on Facebook, email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com, or fill out an application at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Buddy. This handsome guy is a 1-1/2-year-old lab/golden retriever/collie/husky mix. Basically, 4 awesome large breeds rolled into one awesome doggy. He is a pretty big boy, weighing about 80 pounds. Buddy is bashful and likes to approach newcomers on his own terms. Once he does, you will see what a sweet and gentle guy he is. Buddy is great with other dogs and lives with several canine friends now. He has been around children as young as 4 and been great. He isn't usually too bouncy, but he is still young and will need some training. Buddy has only been around stray cats who get chased off by him and his brothers. Buddy has mostly ... (Read More)lived outside with access to a heated garage and another larger building for shelter. He never has accidents in either building. He has not been crated, but is trustworthy not to bother things that don't belong to him. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Buddy. He is not up to date on his vetting yet because we need a place for him to hang out during the process. If you are interested in helping us help Buddy, please send us a private message on Facebook, email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com or fill out an adoption / foster application at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com. Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed

I have a beautiful female Rottweiler/Husky mix. She has the build of a husky and one blue eye, and the coloration of a rottweiler. She is house trained (unless left alone for 12 hours solid) Wonderful with kids; I have a 10 month old baby and he pulls on her and cuddles her and she loves the attention. We live with 2 kittens and shes never violent toward them, but she does chase them around the house occasionally. Trained to lay, sit, stay, and not to eat off plates unless instructed to. She is an indoor dog, and only goes out to potty and during my work hours. She is seriously the most amazing dog I could've ever come to know, but my ... (Read More)husband doesn't like her because she is loyal to me to the point where she whines the whole time I'm at work and shes so picky about food we have to buy expensive stuff. Please, only take her if you're going to be a good home that'll love her as much as I do. Don't bother if you aren't going to give her a good family. (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Zoey. Once upon a time she was stray, but when her family was found, they no longer wanted to keep her. In order to keep her safe, her finders took her and made her part of their family. Zoey is every bit as beautiful in person, and probably even prettier. She is a 6-year-old German shepherd/husky mix who still loves to run and get her exercise. She loves being with her people, especially the little people in her life. She is good with other dogs, but chases stray cats. She is good with the family's cat; however, she can distinguish between the family cat and those who don't belong. Zoey will require a family that is home ... (Read More)frequently. She does have some anxiety issues and struggles with thunderstorms and fireworks. She seems to like to be around other dogs and her humans. She currently enjoys sleeping in bed with them. Zoey will also require a fenced yard. She doesn't mind being on leash, but she is very strong and not super mannerly. She really enjoys spending time outside, but can be somewhat of an escape artist if not supervised. Zoey is spayed, up-to-date, on shots, and microchipped. She is also 100% housebroken and crate trained. however, she is trustworthy in the home without a crate and with no supervision. If you have any questions or if you would like to offer a foster or forever home for Zoey, please email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com or fill out an adoption application at pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-30-00689Nika (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Nika. She's an adorable 9mo old husky with TONS of energy. She gets along with all the dogs she has met, I can only imagine she would do fine with a cat other than torturing her with constant chattering to play like she does my Pom. She's a little scrapper at 25lbs and holds her own while playing with my full sized boys. My Pom is evil and scares her a bit, so she just sits there and barks/woos at her. She is a barker, btw, when she gets excited or wants to play...she also throws in the most adorable Woooo. =) I'm strongly suggesting families with kids 5+...for the simple fact she is little but a bull in a china shop. Many battle wounds ... (Read More)here from a paw to the face, head butt doing a zoomie and I have a black eye from a snout to the eye as she flew onto the couch in excitement lol. Other than a few war wounds lol...she has been a joy to have with us. She is crate and potty trained. She will let you know she has to go, so be ready, you only get a few seconds to comply =) She's pretty good on the leash, a little tugging in excitement but nothing that can't be worked with. SHE IS A DIGGER lol. She wil definitely need a household with another dog who can keep up with her energy level. We have been working on her eating (puppies like to scarff) and she has graduated out of a slow feeder bowl and is learning 'Leave it' with the other dogs food at meal times. She knows sit, paw, stay, down, off.......very smart girl and will catch on to just about anything. If you have the energy she is the girl for you!! UTD, Dewormed, Spayed, HW tested, and microchipped. Application, Home visit, and contract apply. $250 adoption fee. PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Indiana
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
