Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Lincoln came to us from the IACC. What a great face this boy has!!! 1 year old and around 45lbs. Full of enery and kisses galore. Overall an exuberant young man; lacking some manners and basic training. He gets grumbly during his vet exam but no reactivity noted with normal handling. We are attributing his behavior from being very stressed in a short period of time. We have learned so much about him at his foster home. I would say he is truly a Misunderstood Husky. His ominous mask and vocalization was a little hard to read at first. We gave him plenty of time to settle in and get adjusted in his foster home to see if the true Lincoln would ... (Read More)come out. We have learned SOOO much about him!! He's just a very animated character. He knows a lot of basic commands already. Potty and crate trained. He is a fence jumper/climber if you try to leave him alone. He will do anything for a treat. He has some weird play styles and greetings which we have since learned its just part of Lincoln. He plays rough, and by rough I mean he likes to body slam and poke you with his nose. =) For this reason we are recommending kids older than 8yrs old. He's great with the other dogs. He's confident but not dominant. He will take warnings but also likes to push the limit if he really wants to play. He won't start an altercation, but he will also stick up for himself and not be bullied. He adores the female doggy in his foster home. Lincoln is Neutered,UTD, HW/Lyme tested and on prevent, microchipped. Application, Home visit, Contract apply. $300 Adoption Fee. Application: http://www.mushhuskyrescueinc.org/adopt.html (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Say HI to Lobo!! What a goofy boy he is. Lobo is a year old and very much still an over-grown pup. Lobo had NO MANNERS OR TRAINING when he came to us from the shelter. He's is doing Sooo good in his foster home. He's learning the basics very quickly; such a smart boy!! Lobo does need a lot of stimulation and exercise or he become a bit hard to handle. He had some horrible mouthing habits when we got him; but with training and a firm, confident handler we have had no issues at all. He wants to play play play...so for that reason we recommend younger dogs for him, as he can be a bit obnoxious with his need for activity. He's crate and potty ... (Read More)trained. Had a couple marking incidents but that has subsided quickly. Because he is a puppy trapped in an adult body we are recommending kids older than 5yrs old. He will dart out a door and never look back. He can jump shorter fences, but hasn't shown any interest in the fosters 5ft fence at all. Lobo is neutered, UTD, HW/Lyme tested and on prevent, microchipped. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-02-00326Harmony (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Harmony. This blue-eyed beauty is a 4-year-old Australian cattle dog mix. She kind of looks to have something shepherdy or possibly husky in there. Honestly, she probably has several breeds in her mix making her a perfect medium-sized dog weighing about 45 pounds. Harmony is just the sweetest girl--patient and loving. Harmony is great with the kids she has met while with us (4+). As long as the kids are friendly to her, she is totally at ease. Harmony is also great with dogs. We have had her around dogs smaller and younger than she is without any issue. She plays nicely and is gentle. She is also not reactive if the little dog is a ... (Read More)yapper. She does seem to be more people-oriented and likes to pick a person to follow around. We would also like to add that Harmony is quite the athlete and will not be contained by anything less than a 6-foot-privacy fence. Harmony has excellent house manners and seldom gets on furniture. She is housebroken and crate trained. Although she doesn't need a crate for behavioral reasons, Harmony does elect to get in her crate on her own throughout the day. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped too. If you would like to make Harmony part of your family, the first step is to complete the adoption application in the website below. Please be sure to include on the application any questions you have. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00589Apollo (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Apollo is a 1.5-year-old Siberian husky who needs a loving, active home. He's about 45 pounds underneath all of the fluff. He is very friendly, happy, and an all-around a great guy. Apollo doesn't know a stranger in humans. He likes to give hugs and kisses if allowed, but more than that Apollo thinks all visitors to the house are there to play with him. He has been raised around children of all ages and is very gentle and trustworthy. Unfortunately, Apollo has decided he doesn't want to play nicely with dogs he didn't grow up with. He will now have to be an only dog in the home. We do not know how Apollo is with cats. Apollo is neutered, ... (Read More)up to date on shots, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained, but does experience some separation anxiety in the crate. With all of that information in mind, here is what an ideal home for Apollo would look like. First and foremost, someone who can keep Apollo entertained physically and mentally. Huskies need it and Apollo wants it. Secondly, we would like for Apollo to have a fenced yard, and by this we mean a 6ft privacy fence. Anything else (4ft, chain link, electric) won't contain him and gives people a false sense of security. This last point MAY be negotiable with the right home. If you would like to meet Apollo, you must first complete the adoption application in the link below. Please be sure to include on the application any questions you have. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. His adoption fee is $200. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.html (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-03-00168Miley (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

MILEY IS ONLY ADOPTABLE TO INDIANA AND OHIO AND MUST HAVE A 6FT FENCE!! CURRENT LOCATION: ELKHART INDIANA. Miley is 2 yrs old and being a tripod doesnt slow her down lol. She had a genetic deformity and they opted to remove her leg. She is Spayed, UTD and all that good stuff. She gets along great with dogs of mid-size and larger. She has a very confident personality but wouldnt call her dominant. IMO she is just on the naughty end of the Sibe scale in some of her traits. She is High energy and wants to play play play. Being a tripod has not made her a couch potato by any means. She is doing great on the gentle leader for walking. Stays in ... (Read More)her crate during the day and doesnt escape. She prefers to be out to sleep where she pleases at night. She is vocal. Likes people. I would say her two worst traits are she is a resource guarder and she has a higher prey drive. IMO everything else is just part of the package of having a northern breed. Of course you can't do much about the prey drive except respect it and prepare for it; but once she settles in somewhere and builds some trust...the resource guarding is an issue that needs to be worked with. Separation with food and high values to begin with go from there as you build a relationship with her. She has been bounced around A LOT up until this point but seems to have taken it in stride and it has not broken her spirit; must be her Northern self taking the reigns. I think she will make a wonderful addition to anyones family as long as you are prepared for the Northern breed personality and willing to do a little work to fine tune her. She is a teenager who like to be stubborn and push the boundaries if you let her. I think the only stipulations for her at this point would be no very small children, no small critters in the home and someone experienced with the breed and good containment options because even with 3 legs she is a runner and houdini. Miley has been through obedience training and passed her Canine Good Citizen test (barelylol). Miley had a UC Davis test done prior to her coming to our rescue. Regardless of the minimal wolf content she may have, she can only go to localities that allow wolfdogs and who have a 6ft fence. ONLY THOSE WITH EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE NORHTERN BREED WILL BE CONSIDERED. She has been bounced around being Misunderstood; and hey, that's our speciality!! Her next home will be forever and no one ill prepared for the challenge will be considered. Our one and only loyalty is to her happiness and security. If you live in Indiana, Ohio and think you may fit the bill please apply. Currently located in Far NorthCentral Indiana. Application, Home visit, Contract and $300 adoption fee apply. PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Indiana
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies were imported to Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush. Huskies are named after tribes of Inuits called Huskies. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
