This handsome boy is Echo. He is a 7 year old Husky mix with the sweetest and most gentle temperament. Echo loves meeting people and really has nice manners. He is a polite leash-walker and is truly a happy-go-lucky boy. We can't say enough good things about him. Echo just came to the shelter so we continue to learn about him daily. We think another relaxed dog in his home would be nice for him! We are unsure if he has ever been around children or cats. He had some fur loss when he came into the shelter and since has shown improvement! Echo just loves everyone he meets. He would love to accompany you on daily walks. Echo is a well-rounded ... Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tommy is an 8-month-old mixed breed pup. He appears to have some husky or maybe shepherd in his mix. It really is just a guess at this point. He weighs about 40 pounds and won't likely be more than 50 pounds. Tommy is a sweet, loving, gentle soul who is somewhat shy, but really blossoming lately. He is very affectionate and cuddly too. He has been raised around kids, cats, and dogs and loves them all. In fact, Tommy would do best placed in a home that has at least one other playful dog and that is a requirement. Tommy is housebroken, but will need to be crate trained. Tommy has also grown up in a fenced yard and will do best in a similar ... (Read More)situation. Tommy is current on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. The adoption fee is $175. Rescue Me ID: 17-08-01-00196Karlee (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Karlee. This pretty girl is an 8-year-old husky mix and is absolutely stunning. Karlee is a sweet girl who is looking for a doting, patient family who will love her for exactly who she is. Karlee can be a little anxious at times and paces quite a bit. She is almost always walking around with her tongue hanging way out--we just happened to catch her at the right moment where only part of her tongue can be seen. Although most people associate anxiety with destruction, this is not the case with Karlee. She has been free to roam the unsupervised for many years without issue. Karlee has been raised with another dog and some of her stress ... (Read More)could be associated with the loss of the other pet. However, Karlee doesn't seem to want to be around other animals anymore. She tolerates them fine, but isn't looking to be buddies. She currently lives with a cat, but Karlee stays clear of her whenever possible. Karlee is inexperienced with children. Teenagers who know how to go slow with introductions would be fine. An ideal home for Karlee would give her plenty of exercise. She once had a yard to run around in, but is now confined to a tie out and then comes right back in. Since this change, Karlee has packed on some weight. She is also currently left alone for long periods of time, something she hasn't always had to deal with. All in all, Karlee just wants to be loved and to have special person in her life who will spoil her. Karlee is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated. If you would like to meet Karlee please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Personality: High Energy

Tango is a 1-2 year old goofball of a boy. He was picked up as a stray and never claimed. Whomever had him for whatever reason thought it a good idea to shave his phone. He is starting to grow it back but unfortunately it's pretty rough feeling. He is a typical Husky and an escape artist. He managed to knock the hinges off 3 doors out the shelter and would walk around waiting for someone to come pay attention to him. He LOVES toys and can very easily keep himself entertained all day. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It has been awhile since we posted Max. We have received a few nibbles, but nothing has been the right fit. When a dog stays in any program for a long time, potential adopters start to think that there is something wrong with the dog--he or she is broken. In Max's case he has a couple of specific requirements, but is other wise one of the sweetest and funniest guys we have had in the program. Here's everything you need to know about him. Our most handsome guy has quite the history. Max is a 2-year-old golden retriever/husky mix who bounced around to a few homes before he became a PawSwaP dog. Once in our program we had to test a couple of ... (Read More)homes before we learned what kind of home would best suit his needs. Last year we thought we had found just the right home to accommodate some of the emotional scars that remain from his rough beginning. Unfortunately, the environment was the fit we had hoped for. Let's start with everything that is awesome about Max. Max is a very sweet, loving, affectionate guy who is very loyal and trusting of his people. He used to need a little time to warm up to strangers, but this seems to have improved quite a bit.He loves to cuddle and be loved on, but he isn't a pest. He can also chill out at your feet and entertain himself with a ball. Max is also tons of fun to play with and is pretty comical when he gets in the right mood. Max has also attended a couple of training classes where he learned leash skills and numerous commands. Max is very smart and loves to be rewarded for good behavior. He is also food motivated and willing to learn new things as much as anyone will work with him. Although he has had quite a bit of training Max is still learning. Max has shared a home with older children and has been successful. We would not recommend a home with smaller children. And here's what makes Max a tough placement. First and foremost, Max must be an only pet in his forever home. He is not good with cats nor dogs, and if given the opportunity, Max will chase both. For this reason, Max MUST have a fenced yard. Max's other issue his separation anxiety. He cannot live in an apartment because he barks as soon as he is left alone. He does eventually settle in, but it takes awhile and in the meantime could annoy neighbors sharing a common wall. Max also struggles in crates, but needs to be crated when unsupervised. It takes a little work to make him feel secure, but he does get the hang of it after some practice and has been crated in his past homes, he just doesn't love it. Max is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and is very well behaved when supervised. Max is currently on Prozac which seems to have really helped with the separation and anxiety and his confinement issues. He really is a relaxed, regular guy these days. If you think you can offer Max a fantastic foster or forever home please complete a required application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Max will need a fenced yard and a home with no other pets. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-30-00303Fallon (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Very High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*********If a dog is listed on this site, they are still available for adoption. Before a meet and greet can be set up, we require an adoption application be filled out. You can find an application at www.waldosmuttleycrew.org****** Fallon 2 year old anatoilian shepherd/husky 70 lbs good with people & older kids; good with medium & large sizes dogs No cats! Adoption fee $200 Fallon is such a beautiful girl!!!!! She is strikingly good looking and gets complements all the time but she doesn't let it go to her head! She's a tomboy who likes to rough & tumble and chase more than anything; playing with other dogs is ... (Read More)definitely her favorite thing to do. When we got her, she'd been abused so was timid with new people, especially men. But she's blossomed into a happy, well-adjusted girl who enjoys attention and getting her ears scratched. She's active so would be a great running partner but would be equally happy racing around the back yard after toys. Her favored playmates are males ... she's not a 'girly-girl' but she is fine with females; she just doesn't really romp with them. Because of her anatolian heritage, she instinctively is protective of her people and property. When her foster mom is around, she's very social and friendly with visitors. But if strangers appear and mom's not home, Fallon is definitely stand-offish. She's extremely loyal and very eager to please so would excel in obedience training, She appears to be potty trained and, although she loves toys (especially the squeaky ones!), she is not destructive with them. She is protective of her food with other dogs (but not with people) so isn't recommended in a home with children under 10 years old. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Indiana
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
