I have a young female Siberian Husky who has turned up on my door step. Our vet says she is from 7 to 12 months old. she has the copper coloring. She did not have tags or a chip. She was starving and very dehydrated when she found us, so she must have been on her own for some time. She has beautiful lite blues eyes and a winning personality. Today she weighs 40 lbs and she needs to gain a little more. She gets along with other dogs and children. She is very smart and eager to please. I need to find her a forever home. I would keep her but I already have @ Aussies. We live in Indiana. If anyone knows of anybody who would love and take care of ... (Read More)this sweet girl, please contact me. Rescue Me ID: 14-03-23-00253Comet (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Comet is a wonderful boy. He is about 11 months old, and is going to make a fantastic dog. He is from a very high kill shelter in Cisco Texas, where he almost did not make it out alive (I picked him up on his last day). He was found as a stray wandering the streets, and was just skin and bones. The poor dear was picked on by other dogs at the shelter, and had two wounds on his body. After some tender loving care he is relaxing, healing, and acting like a playful puppy. Comet is in good medical health. Even though he was covered in ticks he did not pick up any tick-born illnesses. He was thoroughly checked out by our vet, and he ... (Read More)has no illnesses. Comet's personality is fantastic. He is clearly very intelligent, although he is still learning, seeing as he is very young. He is extremely playful and curious, and would probably do best with an active person, or someone who has a back yard. However, I am in an apartment complex, and he seems to do just fine here. He is a very people friendly and very submissive dog. He wants to be around people all the time. In fact he is more interested in being around people than he is in exploring. He will follow you everywhere. The first day at the dog park he wanted to go explore, but he would not stray too far from me. Comet is great with other dogs. He has been picked on in the past, and that is probably because he is so submissive, however he does love to be around other dogs, and enjoys running back and forth at the dog park. He is playful and energetic towards other dogs, but never dominant. I don't think that there is another dog on this earth that he wouldn't get along with. Comet would make an excellent agility dog. He picks up on things quickly, he moves quickly, he always wants to please, and I think it would be something he would absolutely love. It took me less than a minute to teach him to sit and lay-down. He also knows stay, sit pretty and kennel. Comet would also make a great family pet. He is so good natured that anyone could take him anywhere and he would be a great dog. I must say that if I was not trying to stay a foster then I would absolutely keep him. I will be very jealous of whoever ends up with Comet; he is a fantastic dog with limitless potential. Comet's status is not urgent, but it is pressing. Unfortunately my other foster dog was pregnant when we got her, and I was not aware of it until recently. Because she is going to have puppies she needs my full attention, and unlike Comet she has several medical problems. So, as sad as it makes me, I need to find Comet a good home as soon as I can because I am about to really have my hands full with my other foster. Please contact me if you have any questions or would just like to come out and meet him. I promise that you will love this dog as much as I do. He is quickly becoming my favorite foster. PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Indiana
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies were imported to Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush. Huskies are named after tribes of Inuits called Huskies. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
