Please email for photo the photo uploading tool for the website is not working, or our internet isn't for photos. This very handsome boy was into a very high kill animal shelter and was going to be put down due to space. He is black with a gray mussel, and built like a husky, moves and acts like a husky and can yodel, but has semi floppy ears, weighs about 55 pounds, he was very skinny when we first rescued him. He is sweet, bold, and great with most dogs. He loves attention once he know you but until then is very indifferent. He little interest with cats. Crate trained, neutered, heart worm negative, current on vaccinations. Current or ... (Read More)resent past vets name and number, and contract is required to adopt. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-07-00681Kayla (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kayla is a lovable and good-natured, 18-month-old, 30-pound, three-legged shepherd/husky-mix looking for a loving guardian. Kayla is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone she meets - people and other dogs. Kayla landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control after being hit by a car. Her left rear leg was so badly mangled it had to be amputated. Kayla is such a sweet, happy, wiggly girl, you notice her great personality, before you notice the missing limb. Kayla is housebroken and crate-trained. She is surprisingly strong on leash, so she needs some work on her leash manners. Kayla LOVES other dogs - big and small - and would be happiest ... (Read More)in a home with very few stairs, and with a canine companion. Kayla is healthy, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. She will be spayed upon adoption. To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact Info@RainDogRescue.org or 773-770-5115. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Rain Dog Rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-07-00506Lakota (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Lakota is a beautiful, loyal and loving 12-year-old, 75-pound, female, blue-eyed Siberian Husky looking for a loving guardian. Lakota bonds very tightly and adoringly with her human. She lived with a man her entire life, but he passed away a few weeks ago. Lakota walks beautifully on leash, in fact she loves long walks. She is housebroken, well-mannered and non-destructive in the home. She has her energetic moments, but then lays down to sleep, and snores loudly. She is wonderful with other dogs '| probably best with dogs over 20 pounds '| but not so good with teeny dogs, cats and rabbits. She is a little arthritic in her hips so she ... (Read More)doesn't like it when other dogs jump on her, but she still plays a little bit with other dogs and with her toys. She's great in the car once you help her get in and she's fine going up and down about six stairs to get in the house, but she can no longer go up a whole flight of stairs. She's never lived with children and is a little hand-shy, but she gives lots of appreciative kisses if you let her. Lakota is a healthy senior, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. She is currently staying with me in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. To meet and possibly adopt Lakota please contact sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued pets. (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have a 1 year old purebred siberian husky named Diesel. He is a sweet cuddle boy but does not do well with cats, he's okay with other dogs but he tends to be too rough so he's preferred to be the only dog. He is great with kids and meeting new people, he is house trained and neutered and has his shots. He needs someone who has just as much energy as he does, so someone who will exercise with him everyday. He's good with baths and knows how to sit.

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We adopted Baron at 8 weeks. His mom was a husky and we are guessing that the father was some type of hound. Baron weights 94 pounds and can easily put his head on dining room table. He is a wonderful dog to people and our three month old daughter however our baby has developed allergies to him and we can't keep him in a crate all day everyday.

Female Siberian husky Nanook needs a new home/possible rehabilitation. She is quite agressive due to limited human/other pet contact her whole life. She absolutely does not get along with cats but can get along with other medium/large size dogs. Small dogs not recomended.

Rescue Me ID: 13-07-11-00330Zoe (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Free to a good, loving home, including cage. We've had Zoe since she was a puppy; she is 8 years old now. She is a very good dog, however we aren't able to give her the proper exercise and attention since our daughter was born, and I can't handle her accidentally knocking my daughter over nearly everyday (she's not aggresive at all she just has a lot of energy). She was trained as a puppy so she knows the basic commands and is great on walks and runs. She currently lives with 2 cats, so she's not terrible with them (as good as a husky can be anyway!). We really want her to have a loving home where she can get exercise and enough attention ... (Read More)that we can't provide. Please contact me with any questions. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Illinois
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost Illinois Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
