*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Attention Husky lovers! Your attention, please! If you are looking for a stunning, young and playful, big and beautiful Husky friend, here I am! My name is Timber and I am a 7-month-old Siberian Husky who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I don't mean to brag, but I am a pretty handsome fellow, too. I have stunning chocolate brown fur, and piercing bright blue eyes. I am everything you would expect from a Husky: curious, active, fun, and affectionate! My previous owner bought me as a young puppy from a breeder, but realized his busy schedule didn't give him much time to dedicate to me and knew I deserved a better life. Thankfully Fetching Tails was happy to rescue me, and my Husky-loving foster mommy welcomed me to her home with open arms. I am young and growing, so I would love to have a forever family who understands my breed and can continue to work with me so I can grow up to be the best Husky around! Huskies need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation; I would love an active family that will teach me about the world and spend lots of time playing and working out with me! Imagine all the long walks or even jogs we could go on together! Need a hiking buddy? I think that could be fun! Just remember, Huskies are explorers so you need to keep me on a leash when we venture out to explore nature! Did I mention yet that I am an outgoing, friendly, fun-loving boy? I love all new people I meet, and I have a great time playing with other doggies! Foster momma has a Husky and a 25-pound terrier mix, and I LOVE play-wrestling and running around her fenced backyard with them. I would love to have an active mid- or large-size doggie friend in my forever home so we can play and keep each other entertained. But no cats or small critters (like hamsters or guinea pigs) in my forever home, please! It is just too tempting to chase them...I can't help it, it's what we Huskies do. I think that if you have human kiddos, they should be older; because of my size and play style, I wouldn't want to accidentally knock over a tiny human. I love people so much and it would make me sad if I upset the youngins with my goofiness! My favorite activities revolve around playing in the yard: playing 'zoomies' with my foster doggie siblings ('zoomies' is a scientific term for chasing each other around as fast as we can!) and digging holes with my Husky friend. So I need a yard with a tall fence in my forever home; I just love playing outside SO much, especially in this cooler weather! I am a very smart boy and am learning a lot already in my foster home. I am working on perfecting potty training, and also crate training. Foster momma gives me a couple treats in my crate, and I am content to rest in mine while she runs out for a few hours for things she calls 'errands' and 'work.' When she comes home, I like to go outside and burn off some of my excited energy. I am still a growing young dog though, so I still have lots more to learn. Fetching Tails encourages all adopters to attend training classes with their new pups, and I think for me that is a definite must! We Huskies are just too stinking smart and without proper guidance we can be a little mischievous. It would be great mental stimulation for me to see how much we can learn together in training classes, and I think I would really enjoy the adventure! In fact, I would just love going on all kinds of adventures with you! A busy, active Husky is a happy Husky, and I am one of the happiest Huskies you will ever meet! If I sound like I could be your new best friend, please get in touch with my humans at Fetching Tails Foundation soon. I am so excited to explore the world with you! XOXO, Timber If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org/adopt or if any questions please email us! |Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00102Buddy (male)|
Buddy is a people friendly, good tempered, pure-bred Husky. He is black and white with blue eyes. His owner has a new baby and cannot give a year old puppy the attention that is needed. Buddy gets along really well with the other dog in the family, but does not care for dogs he does not know. Buddy is house-trained, but needs more attention than he is now getting to stay on track.

Beautiful and loving young female husky (45 pounds), excellent temperament with humans. Does not do well with other animals, very little socialization with other animals. Sweet and laid back in the house, no problem going in her crate. Adopted her knowing that she is heartworm positive and is being treated, will pay for her current scheduled heartworm treatments. She has an excellent prognosis, was in the early stages. We work long hours and condo living is not the best option for a husky, hoping to find a loving home and a large fenced yard with adults that have the time for this wonderful dog.

Very smart, loyal dog. She's well-trained and very healthy. She can be aggressive toward other dogs, especially ones close to her size, as well as kids. Since she's 10 yrs old and has the aggressive streak, we have been having difficulty finding a home for her. The vet has recommended euthanasia since there are other dogs as well as two young kids in the home now. We are really trying to avoid that since she is so healthy.

Meet Boots! Shepherd/Spitz/Husky??? Mix Approx. 2-3 yrs old Boots is a very smart but timid boy. He loves to play and likes toys, balls, chewy treats, and bones. He also loves blueberries and chicken! Boots also loves the chance to run around at the dog park! Boots other favorite past time is cuddling up on a doggie bed or making a nest out of some blankets. He loves to cuddle with his human. Boots likes to go for walks and is working on not pulling as much. He will continue to need some help with training in his new family. He's good with other dogs and lives with several in his foster home. He prefers female dogs. Boots appreciates his pack at his fosters home and would do best in a home with another dog. Boots is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go outside. When Boots first arrived, he was cautious of new things, but his foster family has helped to show him that there is nothing to be worried about! He is still timid when he meets new people but will warm up, given some patience and time. Boots is a laid back boy who just wants to find a family who will love him! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-05-01-00625Olaf (male)|
*Not my dog but I can connect you with owners.* Currently in Paxton, IL but transport can likely be arranged. Olaf is 10-12 month(based on what I was told his age was when he came here) old deaf Aussie mix(suppose to be w husky/lab but I'm not sure about it because of his size). He is housebroken, crate trained, knows a few hand signals,ok off leash once he trained to his boundaries, good with other dogs(male or female) as long as they are tolerant of his play level/herding instinct, good with kids.. he is great w my 3 year old granddaughter who lives w me BUT she knows not to grab at dogs and she understands she can't startle him so would say home with older kids would be best unless toddler is well behaved. Honestly at times he acts like he may have been abused early in life as he will sometimes cower from you. He loves to play with balls. Olaf currently lives with another dog and enjoys sleeping with his canine pal. Emily (Less)

This handsome boy was in a very high kill animal shelter and was going to be put down due to space. His family who had him left him there to die because he wouldn't stay home. He could jump a 4 foot fence, he no longer does here. They said he was 2 years old, he is now 4 years old, sadly he has been stuck for 2 years waiting for a home. He is black with a gray muzzle, and built like a husky, moves and acts like a husky and can yodel, but has semi floppy ears, weighs about 55 pounds. He was very skinny when we first rescued him. He is sweet, bold, and fine with most dogs, even small dogs. He loves attention once he know you but until then is very indifferent and unsure. He has a more independent personality. He has little interest in cats. His favorite way to play is to race around the yard with another dog chasing him. Other then those occasional sprints he doesn't really play much. He's a very mellow boy. Crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Current or recent past vet clinics number, and contract is required to adopt. We have many rescued dogs please check out our website. (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Illinois|
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
