(Read More)has a high prey drive and will chase squirrels, rabbits and birds if she gets off lease. Ivory has not been around cats. She will run if the opportunity presents itself, so a fenced in yard is a must. Ivory is very big on cuddling and loves to be petted by anyone who pays attention to her. Ivory is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative. Her adoption fee is $295 and includes spay, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email Kathy for an application at Please join us August 23, 2014 for our 'Wag-a-thon' at the Peg Bond Center in Batavia, IL. It is one of our main fundraisers this year and we need walkers! Please consider bringing your dog, your family and friends. Registration is only $25 and you receive a t-shirt. The walk-a-thon will help us pay down our veterinary bills for the dogs and puppies we have rescued this summer. We have saved 3 dogs with broken legs that have needed orthopedic care, 9 Heartworm positive dogs that have now been treated, one puppy that is blind and deaf, 5 dogs that were 9+ years and needed extensive medical care and 20+ moms with their puppies. This is in addition to the adult dogs that have come in emaciated, needing dental, and of course all needing spay and neuter, shots and micro-chipping. This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning and earn a T-shirt to boot! If you have adopted from Casey's Safe Haven Dog Rescue and 485 of you have; we would love to have you join our walk and bring your pup for updated photos. We will have a professional photographer there for pictures! For those of you that are competitive you can win prizes by asking others to sponsor your walk. (You do not have to raise additional money to walk) When you register you make a personal webpage to share with friends, family and coworkers - great prizes for our top pledge earners. But again, you can walk with only your $25 registration fee! This is a beautiful walk along the River and only two walks were allowed this year. We received one of the spots; help us make this a success. We hope to see you there! Register Now at: (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We adopted Baron at 8 weeks. His mom was a husky and we are guessing that the father was some type of hound. Baron weights 94 pounds and can easily put his head on dining room table. He is a wonderful dog to people and our three month old daughter however our baby has developed allergies to him and we can't keep him in a crate all day everyday.

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Our dog Ace desperately needs a new home. He has become aggressive towards our other male dog and is no longer safe in our home. He is fine with our female dog. He does not do well with children. He has been through basic obedience, is fully vaccinated, and neutered. He was adopted from an irresponsible family member and his selfish choices have created these behavior problems. Help us find him a home so he doesn't suffer from those choices! He is playful, energetic, and sweet when he is comfortable. He should probably be in a home with no dogs and no children. We have a large crate that can go with him and all vet records. He is a ... (Read More)year and a half old, will be 2 in August. 75 lbs. Definitely a Husky mix, perhaps with great dane? Still available as of 6/5/2014 but relinquished to the Tender Loving Care Animal Shelter in Homer Glen. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Illinois
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
