Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Beautiful and loving young female husky (45 pounds), excellent temperament with humans. Does not do well with other animals, very little socialization with other animals. Sweet and laid back in the house, no problem going in her crate. Adopted her knowing that she is heartworm positive and is being treated, will pay for her current scheduled heartworm treatments. She has an excellent prognosis, was in the early stages. We work long hours and condo living is not the best option for a husky, hoping to find a loving home and a large fenced yard with adults that have the time for this wonderful dog.

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-17-00016Ginger (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Very smart, loyal dog. She's well-trained and very healthy. She can be aggressive toward other dogs, especially ones close to her size, as well as kids. Since she's 10 yrs old and has the aggressive streak, we have been having difficulty finding a home for her. The vet has recommended euthanasia since there are other dogs as well as two young kids in the home now. We are really trying to avoid that since she is so healthy.

This handsome boy was in a very high kill animal shelter and was going to be put down due to space. His family who had him left him there to die because he wouldn't stay home. He could jump a 4 foot fence, he no longer does here. They said he was 2 years old, he is now 4 years old, sadly he has been stuck for 2 years waiting for a home. He is black with a gray muzzle, and built like a husky, moves and acts like a husky and can yodel, but has semi floppy ears, weighs about 55 pounds. He was very skinny when we first rescued him. He is sweet, bold, and fine with most dogs, even small dogs. He loves attention once he know you but until then ... (Read More)is very indifferent and unsure. He has a more independent personality. He has little interest in cats. His favorite way to play is to race around the yard with another dog chasing him. Other then those occasional sprints he doesn't really play much. He's a very mellow boy. Crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Current or recent past vet clinics number, and contract is required to adopt. We have many rescued dogs please check out our website. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Illinois
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost Illinois Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies were imported to Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
