*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* What comes to mind when you hear the phrase 'Husky-Shepherd mix?' Handsome? Check! Loverboy? Double check! Mellow couch potato? That one might be a little surprising, but for me that is a big ole check! Available for adoption? Yes, sir! My name is Aztec, and I am a gorgeous 2-year-old, 50-pound friendly fella looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation. I have striking black and tan coloring that swirls in a unique pattern on my handsome face; my ears stand at attention so you know I am listening closely when you tell me I am a good boy; and let's talk about my eyes: as soon as you look into my distinct baby blues you will fall in love immediately! But my calming presence and superior cuddling ability is even more stunning than my pretty eyes! One lucky family is really going to hit the jackpot by adopting me! I was found locally as a stray and my previous owners never tried to reclaim me from the local shelter. When my time 'was up,' my new friends from Fetching Tails swooped in to save me. My loving foster momma has been showering me with attention ever since, and I am having so much fun now! I am so easy going and I get along with everyone: men, women, human kids, dogs, and even cats! I will play with other dogs if they want to (I don't initiate play; I wait to follow the other dog's lead); I am fostered with a little Shih Tzu mix and another husky, and we get along well, so I am comfortable with dogs of all sizes! My most favorite activity, though, is cuddling with my humans. You know that saying 'if it fits, I sit'? That perfectly describes me and any lap I can find: even 50 pound dogs can be lapdogs! I work it out like a puzzle, making sure to find the perfect seating arrangement to keep us both perfectly comfortable. All I want in my forever home is a cozy lap to snuggle in with a human who will adore me. I have pretty excellent house manners, as well. I am potty trained and crate trained, though I prefer to sleep near my humans at night instead of in my crate. If I know you are near, I want to be with you! I also know a couple commands, including 'sit.' I like to go on walks, but the husky in me comes out then and I like to pull to see and sniff as much as possible. Fetching Tails Foundation encourages all adopters to attend training classes with their new pups, so maybe we could work on leash skills in class together? I think classes could be fun: not only will we learn a lot together, but training is also an excellent bonding experience! All around, I am a well-behaved boy, and since I don't have a lot of excited energy, I think I would do well in any type of home: house, condo, or even apartment. As long as there is a comfy couch for me to curl up on with my favorite humans, I will be one very happy boy! So what are you waiting for? If I sound like the perfect cuddly, snuggly, mellow fellow, lovebug for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation as soon as possible so we can start our happily ever after together! Love, Aztec If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Adoption Requirements: *Be at least 21 years of age *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment *Lives in 50 mile radius of Itasca within the Illinois border Adoption Fees: Senior dog - 8 years and up, $75 Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 Puppies - under 6 months, $350 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-28-00607Boots (male)
Meet Boots! Shepherd/Spitz/Husky??? Mix Approx. 2-3 yrs old Boots is a very smart but timid boy. He loves to play and likes toys, balls, chewy treats, and bones. He also loves blueberries and chicken! Boots also loves the chance to run around at the dog park! Boots other favorite past time is cuddling up on a doggie bed or making a nest out of some blankets. He loves to cuddle with his human. Boots likes to go for walks and is working on not pulling as much. He will continue to need some help with training in his new family. He's good with other dogs and lives with several in his foster home. He prefers female dogs. Boots appreciates his pack at his fosters home and would do best in a home with another dog. Boots is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go outside. When Boots first arrived, he was cautious of new things, but his foster family has helped to show him that there is nothing to be worried about! He is still timid when he meets new people but will warm up, given some patience and time. Boots is a laid back boy who just wants to find a family who will love him! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-01-00625Olaf (male)
*Not my dog but I can connect you with owners.* Currently in Paxton, IL but transport can likely be arranged. Olaf is 10-12 month(based on what I was told his age was when he came here) old deaf Aussie mix(suppose to be w husky/lab but I'm not sure about it because of his size). He is housebroken, crate trained, knows a few hand signals,ok off leash once he trained to his boundaries, good with other dogs(male or female) as long as they are tolerant of his play level/herding instinct, good with kids.. he is great w my 3 year old granddaughter who lives w me BUT she knows not to grab at dogs and she understands she can't startle him so would say home with older kids would be best unless toddler is well behaved. Honestly at times he acts like he may have been abused early in life as he will sometimes cower from you. He loves to play with balls. Olaf currently lives with another dog and enjoys sleeping with his canine pal. Emily (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-11-00583Ty (male)
This handsome boy was in a very high kill animal shelter and was going to be put down due to space. His family who had him left him there to die because he wouldn't stay home. He can jump a 4 foot fence, he no longer does here. They said he was 2 years old, he is now 3 years old. He has been waiting a year now for his very own home. He is black with a gray muzzle, and built like a husky, moves and acts like a husky and can yodel, but has semi floppy ears, weighs about 55 pounds, he was very skinny when we first rescued him. He is sweet, bold, and fine with most dogs, even small dogs. He loves attention once he know you but until then is very indifferent and unsure. He has a more independent personality here where he only gets a bit of attention as he is let in and out to play in the yard from the kennel. He has little interest in cats. His favorite way to play is to race around the yard with another dog chasing him. Other then those occasional sprints he doesn't really play much. He's a very mellow boy. Crate trained, neutered, heart worm negative, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Current or recent past vets name and number, and contract is required to adopt. We have many rescued dogs please check out our website. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Illinois
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
