Hi! I'm Motley! My family needs to rehome me (much to their sadness) because although I am very sweet, loving, talkative, and SUPER smart, I have a taste for our neighbors' chickens... and my people don't want to keep me in a pen for the rest of my long life (I'm only 3!). I live outside, but would love to have an owner that has the patience and love in their heart (and home) to teach me how to be an inside girl! I'm so smart, I can easily pick up on what you want me to do. I have a lot of energy, which gets me into trouble if I don't have enough to do. I guess you could say I'm a typical Husky! I love to play with our other dogs (labs, a beagle, and a maltese/poodle mix), so I think if you have other babies, I could learn to love them too. As for children, I haven't had much of a chance to be around little ones, but as with any dog, I should be supervised because I tend to get excited... I think I can learn how to stay calm and not to jump. Please consider giving me a home where I can get love, exercise, and the training I need so I can be the best friend you'll ever have. My mom's friend is helping with the adoption process, so please contact her at 6186974572 or firstname.lastname@example.org. She says she keeps strange hours so you can get ahold of her at any time. Thanks for looking! *My rescue fee is negotiable. I want somebody who can keep me UTD & my belly full, though! I'll need a vet reference. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-22-00424Carra (female)
Meet Carra DOB 3/28/15 Weight about 25 lbs Carra is a Spitz/ Husky mix, who was adopted from Safe Haven a couple of months ago and has now been returned to the rescue due to a family member's allergies. Carra is now on the search to find a new family where she can be spoiled and loved just like she has been for the last few months. Carra is a playful, lovable, and smart little girl! She is housebroken and will go to the door to let you know that she needs to go out. Carra loves to chew on bones and antlers. She also loves to play with her dog toys and run around in the yard. Carra would prefer a yard with a high fence, that she cannot jump over. She walks well on her leash and enjoys being outside on walks with her people. Since Carra is still young and loves being with her people, she would like a home where she is not left alone for extended periods of time. Carra is good with other dogs, kids of all ages, and loves all people in general. She knows her basic commands and is treat motivated...so continuing her training should be easy! Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter at our participating vets, immunizations/shots up to the point of adoption, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email email@example.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-19-00557Kenai (female)
We don't know what the first two years of Kenai's life looked like, but this 3.5 year old beauty was brought to a shelter about 1.5 years ago and has been waiting for her forever home her whole life. She is the epitome of a husky, and that can be a lot for some people to handle. She was adopted out briefly and returned shortly after as she was too active and the family couldn't keep up with her physical needs. Kenai would ideally go to owners experienced with Huskies or similar breeds who can give her an outlet for her energy. She LOVES the dog park and would love to be a running buddy!

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-09-00525Jessie (female)
[Read About Natural Seizure Care] It hurts our hearts, but we've realized that it's time for our beloved Jessie to find a new home. Now that we are back living in Chicago and back to apartment living, Jessie just isn't happy without the room she had to run when we lived in Mexico. We took her in 5 years ago when her previous owner (still in contact) had to suddenly move and she has brought tons of joy to our lives (and tons of hair). ;) We've moved to an even smaller place and Jessie needs a new family with a yard. Our kids' hearts are broken at the thought of giving her to a shelter, so please spread the word and help us look for someone to adopt our Jessie girl. She's spayed and microchipped. I have all her vaccination and vet papers from the past five years. She gets along with other dogs and is a leader for sure, so I'm not sure how she would do with another alpha. We used to board her at a big dog ranch when we went on vacation and the owner would tell me she got along with all the dogs. We have another shelter dog and they get along well, as long as Jessie is in charge. ;) Jessie needs way more room than we have now, but if it weren't for that, no way we'd be looking for a new home for her. Her ideal day would be running around outside, taking a nap in the sun, running around playing with her family, and then sleeping under someone's bed in the pitch black. She's got her quirks but she's a GREAT dog. We think she may have been abused as a puppy as she scares easily, but she's very protective of her family which makes her a great guard dog. She is on the small side as far as huskies go. She has a seizure about once or twice a year, only during times of great stress, like a move or a horrible storm. We just sit with her and rub her head and it passes, usually in about 10 minutes. Vets have said that it would be more costly to do diagnostic testing, so the recommendation was to just leave her alone unless it got worse. Its actually gotten better and very infrequent. Jessie is has traveled from Chicago to Mexico and back because we just couldn't give her up! We'd really like to see her happier with some land to run around on and a new family to love. (Also hoping we can occasionally hear how she's doing or visit!) :) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-11-00583Ty (male)
This handsome boy was in a very high kill animal shelter and was going to be put down due to space. His family who had him left him there to die because he wouldn't stay home. He can jump a 4 foot fence, he no longer does here. They said he was 2 years old, he is now 3 years old. He has been waiting a year now for his very own home. He is black with a gray muzzle, and built like a husky, moves and acts like a husky and can yodel, but has semi floppy ears, weighs about 55 pounds, he was very skinny when we first rescued him. He is sweet, bold, and fine with most dogs, even small dogs. He loves attention once he know you but until then is very indifferent and unsure. He has a more independent personality here where he only gets a bit of attention as he is let in and out to play in the yard from the kennel. He has little interest in cats. His favorite way to play is to race around the yard with another dog chasing him. Other then those occasional sprints he doesn't really play much. He's a very mellow boy. Crate trained, neutered, heart worm negative, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Current or recent past vets name and number, and contract is required to adopt. We have many rescued dogs please check out our website. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Illinois
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
