Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bowie came to us as a rescue. She was found in Monterey running along the freeway and a foster family brought her in. We found her in December and brought her home. She is great with our older male German Shepard. The problem we have with her is she is still very much a runner and we live on a road where cars go a minimum of 60 mph and she has been close to being hit a few times with my kids trying to run after her. Now that she has figured out that freedom, she keeps trying to get back out. I can't risk her life or my kids with her Houdini tricks and our fence has already been reinforced. She is crate trained and is a sweet tempered girl. ... (Read More)The vet isn't sure what she is mixed with other than husky. One thinks Australian Shepard, one thinks some pit bull. We are working on sit and stay with her. If she is given a chance, she will cuddle on a bed or a couch believing she is a lap dog. She goes to comfort my boys all the time. Please help us find this sweet girl a home before we have to take her to the shelter. She is also microchipped. (Less)

Eastwood was rescued when he was three months old from being dumped in a very rough neighborhood. He was adopted, a little after being rescued, but unfortunately, a year later, his adoption took a turn and he would return back to the rescue through no fault of his own! Now a year and seven months old, he is looking for his forever home. He does great off leash, but unfortunately, due to lack of training and exposure as a puppy, he does pull and gets too excited, and jumps up at times. He does not know his pure size and acts like a puppy still, but in acting like a puppy, he shows his true side of love and tenderness. He will need a home ...     Please welcome a very special soul to THR... HERCULES! He is a beautiful 6 years old, neutered, fully vaccinated, and chipped Siberian Husky mix. Herc's story is a little sad but like a true hero, he came out on top. Hercules was part of an animal cruelty case, had to sit in county for 60 days and after his previous owner was found guilty, he became available for rescue. We cannot tell you how wonderful and sweet this big guy is! He's one of the happiest and most playful spirits we've had here. Hercules loves to play with the other dogs, absolutely enjoys running in the backyard and does great so far in public settings. He's made a few trips ... (Read More)to Tahoe Mountain Brewing's Taproom and has been very well behaved. He does well on leash and rides like a god in the car. Due to his circumstances with his living conditions and his time at the shelter, Herc's coat is a work in progress. We are very thankful for Barbara at Jenny's Dog Grooming, Midtown Pet Spa & Boutique LLC for starting the very long and tedious process of helping get all the knots, matting and dreads out. We still have a long way to go but he takes it like a champ and that beautiful coat of his will shine when said and done. We'd love for Hercules to have the life he truly deserves and that means a very loving family with a house and a backyard, kids are okay, and other dogs upon a meet & greet. Cats are unknown and at the full discretion of the adopter. Fencing should be minimum 6' as we've seen this big guy clear a 4' gate with ease. Working from home, being retired or taking him to work with you would be a plus. Hercules can't wait to meet you and start new adventures fit for a Roman god!! Please remember no apartments or condos. ***PLEASE NOTE: due to our home check requirement, we adopt to Northern California/Northern Nevada areas only (Less)

Welcome Diana to THR! This sweet little wonder woman is approximately a year old, spayed (thank woo Kreature Komforts Animal Hospital), fully vaccinated and microchipped. Di is on the smaller side, weighing about 42 lbs and has a short to medium coat. She absolutely loves people but needs some work with other dogs. We feel she will be best suited as an only dog in the home. Professional training and socialization will help tremendously with getting her better with other dogs. We can't determine if she's being protective of her humans or jealousy at this point. We are working with her on this, however it isn't something that we can fix in a ... (Read More)couple days so your understanding of this is crucial. Breed experience is preferred to better help understand her needs as well. Diana rides well in the car and does well in a kennel. She appears to be housebroken, but please allow for a few accidents in a new environment. Cats are unknown and will be up to the full discretion of the adopter. Kids are okay as well for her. Please no apartments or condos, working from home, being retired or taking her to work with you would be ideal for her. Meet & Greet and home check required. ***PLEASE NOTE: Due to our home check requirement, we adopt to the Northern California/Northern Nevada areas only (Less)

~SHY Our little Shy girl is approximately a year old, spayed (thank woo Kreature Komforts Animal Hospital), fully vaccinated and microchipped. She is an absolute sweet and loving girl who is a bit under socialized but with the right person or family will blossom quickly! She weighs approximately 46 lbs and has a medium to long coat. She has done amazing with her potty-training and does okay on leash. Shy rides in a crate in the car and can be okay in one for short periods of time in the home.     Meet Kitty...a fantastic dog who is very loved. Circumstances have her person not able to give Kitty all she needs, so she has asked for help to find Kitty the right new home. Kitty is just over 5 years old. She is an Australian Shepherd/Cattledogs/Husky mix. She weighs about 80 pounds and, with a bit of exercise will slim down just a bit. Kitty is just about perfect. Truly. She comes with more training than most dogs have. Kitty knows sit, stay, and down. She will come around to the left or right, on command. She also knows to give her paw and to give kisses. Kitty is delightful in the house. She is house trained. She is also nice when ... (Read More)out and about. She is lovely on leash...but she also find squirrels interesting. She is an excellent passenger in the car and likes to go out and about with her person. %A0Kitty is quite personable. She loves people of all ages and genders. She likes to jump up on people to greet them and does give kisses. She loves to get her rear scratched and lives attention, though she isn't a cuddler. She is polite with other dogs when out and about. She likes to play with other dogs who respect her interest in being the number one dog. Playing chase with other dogs at the dog park is fun for her. When at home, she can be bossy with other dogs. She thinks she is the queen bee...and she is! Her new home will need to just remind her that she shouldn't be bossy. As for cats, she is interested but hasn't directly interacted with one. Kitty is an absolute gem of a dog. She is very intelligent and loves people. The person who gets to adopt Kitty will be very lucky indeed. Kitty is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. She is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. %A0 (Less)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

***Sorry, we cannot adopt outside the Southern California area*** DOB: July 2011 || BREED/COLORING: Akita/Husky Mix; blue merle with white. || SIZE: Azulia is about 70lbs and is full grown. || HISTORY: Azulia was rescued off the streets of Tijuana by an independent rescuer who had seen her fending for herself. || PERSONALITY: Azulia is an absolute sweetheart. She loves having people around her but can be a bit weary of men (she may have been abused in Mexico). She's a character and a talker :) || TRAINING: Azulia has no training and could use some basic obedience training as she is still young and tends to jump on people. She is actually ... (Read More)fairly good on leash (other than the jumping)... and she may need work on housebreaking as well. || WOULD DO BEST: Azulia would do well in a home with someone who is familiar with her breed mix. She absolutely requires a yard. || CATS/DOGS/KIDS: Azulia does great with dogs with a proper introduction but is definitely not recommended for homes with cats or tiny dogs. She was with children as young as 5 in her foster home in Mexico and did great with them. || VET RECORD: All of our dogs are currently vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. || (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in California
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies are named after tribes of Inuits called Huskies. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
