Rescue Me ID: 15-01-09-00012Elsa (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We are looking for a nice loving home to adopt our 11 month old Husky / Malamute. Her name is Elsa and she is pretty big about 80 pounds. She is still a puppy so, she still has alot of puppy tendencies. She has a lot of high energy and gets along better with female owners. She will need someone who will be able to take her on walks constantly and play with her as she gets bored very easily. If she gets bored she typically starts chewing on anything she finds laying around. But she is still a puppy so it's pretty normal. She is a bit of a handful so we really want her to go to someone who knows a lot about huskies and is willing to give her ... (Read More)the attention she deserves. She is a total sweetheart, a bit shy with people at first but then she warms up. We are sad to see her go but unfortunately our living situation will not allow her around and we can't give her the attention she really needs. We are looking for a family who would be willing to send us emails from time to time just to let us know how she's doing as she is a big part of our family still and will be always. She is not spayed so we are looking for someone who can spay her (no breeders) we want her to be a part of someone's family not a money maker. She is potty trained and is VERY smart so if you are willing to train her she will listen. We will be doing some minor background checks on people who would like to adopt her out, and a small re-homing fee may apply ($150) as we are looking for someone who is serious about our Elsa. If you would like to consider bringing Elsa into your family please respond in Text as I get a little busy at times. Please ask any questions, I look forward to meeting you ! (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Before deciding on a Siberian husky, it's important to understand what you're signing up for. I cannot stress this enough! Many huskies are abandoned by owners who adopted without understanding the breed. As a result, the dogs are the ones who suffer. Huskies are extremely energetic and need daily exercise (not just walks). Because our yard is small, Sakari goes to the dog park daily to get her energy out and is well-behaved at home. If she doesn't get to go to the park, she's not fun to live with. Huskies shed. A lot. They blow their coats twice a year. Weekly brushing (daily during shedding) can help manage this. Huskies are great ... (Read More)family dogs but because of their innate warmth and love of making new friends, they're indifferent watchdogs (woofpedia.com). Huskies are not a breed to be left outside to live alone. They're pack dogs and NEED to be with other dogs as well as their humans. If you're still with me, here's more about Sakari: This sweet, loving 3 y/o girl is in need of a forever home. House trained, crate trained, micro-chipped, good with dogs, cats, adults, and kids. Very well-socialized. Knows a few basic commands but needs obedience training. Ideal forever home would have someone there during the day and be with people who have, or have had, a husky. Other dogs in the home a plus. If left unsupervised, she'll get into mischief. Can be food aggressive but does fine when fed separately. Overall temperament is very sweet and loving ('Sakari' is Inuit for 'sweet'). Asking same adoption fee we paid for her, $200 (for dog only). If you'd like all her things as well, adoption fee is $300 (crate & plush bed, prong collar, toys, and food = $260 value). I'm fostering her for a family member. If I didn't have so much on my plate, I'd keep her myself. She's a wonderful and special dog and deserves a family who can offer her the time and commitment she needs. (Less)

We have a beautiful German/husky mix, 3 1/2 year old female who is spayed and chipped. She is amazing with kids (we have a 3 and 10 year old) and knows basic commands. We rescued her from a bad home about 2 years ago, but have recently come to the realization that we don't have a lifestyle that best suits her. We are gone often with our kids sports and don't have another dog for her to play with.

Siberian Husky

Dexter looks like a Red Husky Wolf. He is mixed. Friends took Dexter last month from a neighbor (after they threatened to call SPCC, she voluntarily released him) who was starving and mistreating him. We temporarily took him in and have fattened him up these last few weeks. According to our friends (owner doesn't make much sense but says dog is neutered, vaccinated, and (maybe) chipped but this was her son's dog so she doesn't know). They have been unable to find another home for him. He is an escape artist. We have been unable to keep him in our yard. He loves to jump, dig, squeeze through, break chains, etc. We have 1/2 acre. We have had ... (Read More)to keep him inside most of the time. He gets on well with our dog who lives outside. He tried out another house but didn't get on well with their dog. He is very very sweet and we have built up his trust but do not want to see him hit by a car or killed by the coyotes. We are away from home all day and with our other pets cannot keep Dexter. I wish we could. Looking for a good home for him. Great companion. Good indoor dog. Needs a very secure fence. (Less)

He needs a good loving home who can help him get the attention he needs and loves. He is a great watch dog and has always been good with his mother. The kids love him and we hate to seem him go but we worry something will happen between the other 2 dogs now. I have not been able to find a home for him since he was a puppy. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi Everyone, My name is Odessa, and if you've ever dreamed of adopting a dog who can talk, then I'm your girl! I can do 'vocalizations,' in addition to your average, run-of-the-mill barking! That means that in addition to our twice daily brisk walks around the neighborhood and games of fetch, we can also make funny YouTube videos where I 'tell' you how much I ruff you! In addition to being vocal, I am affectionate and cuddly, and love being near those with whom I have become bonded. I am a very smart girl who responds quick to training, and am both housebroken and crate trained! I also get along great with other dogs, so if you have ... Please consider filling out an application to bring me home so that we can talk, cuddle, and play. Love, Odessa Please go to www.BarksofLove.org for our application and adoption information. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in California
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
