We have two neutered males that are litter mates that need adopting. Unfortunately, we just don't have the time it takes to give to these dogs anymore. Very busy schedules are not allowing us the time to walk them and keep them active as they are only 2 years old and need the exercise to keep them out of trouble. We need someone that will be active with them as well as have a home that will keep them safe. We live in a county that will shot your dog if they are just on someone else's property and unfortunately that is what happened to their parents. Unfortunately these two have gotten out of our yard and we were able to save them from ... (Read More)being shot but we cannot continue to live with that fear of their safety. We prefer to place them with someone who knows this breed and the work that is involved. Also, we will be interviewing potential owners who have knowledge of how these guys are excellent escape artists so need to have a very secure yard/home for them to move on to. (Less)

Hutton is an amazingly smart dog who has had a lot of hours of training put into him. He has been adopted from out shelter twice before but has been returned both times. He just hasn't quite found the right match yet. He does have some resource guarding issues (he will stand over his food and water bowl and growl) so he does need a dog savvy owner who will work on these issues with him. He does come with a free training session at our facility prior to adoption. Hutton weighs about 80 pounds and should be placed in a kid free home due to his guarding issues.

Siberian Husky    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current

Wesson came in with our other Sib Husky, Clyde. They were on the same sled team so he too has a working mentality. However, he is learning to walk nicely on a leash and likes to have his belly scratched. He would be good in a slightly active home, but would do fine just hanging out with his family. He likes people, though we are unsure how he is with kids. He is located at the Whitmore Animal Shelter in Mono County.

He is GREAT with other dogs and ... (Read More)currently spends his days playing with MANY dogs at doggy day care! However, he will need a home without children. PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in California
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.

lnteresting Siberian Husky Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Huskies were bred from dogs indigenous to the Siberian Arctic. Huskies are named after tribes of Inuits called Huskies. Teams of Huskies were used during Gunnar Kaasen's 1925 run to deliver diphtheria vaccine to Nome. The last Siberian Huskies were exported from Siberia in 1930, after which the Soviet government closed the country's borders to outside trade.
