Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello - My name is Ava. I am 4 years young. I love to swim, hike and go for walks. If swimming and hiking aren't really your thing, I am totally fine sleeping all day and playing with my toys, which by the way, I take very good care of. I don't chew on things that aren't my bones, I don't dig, nor do I jump and I am fine being home alone while you are at work or out running errands. I'd greatly appreciate if you leave the TV or radio on while you are gone. Giving my wolf like nature I will attempt to run if given the opportunity and will consider small pets prey. So neighborhood cats, squirrels and birds better stay out of my yard because ... (Read More)I will chase you! I have a clear understanding of human - animal boundaries and even though I can get testy at times, a spray bottle filled with water will send me running for the hills. Unfortunately, I need to be around humans who have a clear understanding of boundaries as well, which means that I am not suitable for a home with children under the age of 13. Hair and tail pulling, disturbing me while I eat, riding me like a pony or trying to take food out of my mouth without a specific purpose or without asserting dominance can create issues, so I need to be with a family who understands and can handle this. Because I am a pack animal, I need a strong pack leader. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy structure and having a safe place to run to when I am in trouble is great for me. I can sit, stand, lay and give paw, however I mostly do it for treats and I'll know if you're trying to trick me, but if these commands are important to you, I'm sure we can work something out. I am up to date on all of my shots, I get flea medicine put on my back once a month (which I totally hate, but whatever), as well as something called 'heart worm' medicine which tastes like an awesome treat that I run away with and bark at before eating it. I have been told that I am great at the vet's office, as well as in pet hotels. I do well with other big dogs as long as we are introduced slowly and as long as the other animal isn't dominant or aggressive, which means that at a dog park or pet hotel you will have to ask if the dogs I'll be interacting with will try to bite or challenge me. I am friendly towards people and children, but before being handled or petted I have to sniff hands. Also, the groomer lady has to put a muzzle on me before digging in my ears, pulling my hair or cutting my nails. One last thing. My parents love me. They hate that I have to find a new home, especially my mom; but giving that they are bringing a little human home in a few months that won't have a clear understanding of boundaries once he starts crawling, they feel it is best that I find a new home. This doesn't mean they will give me away to anyone or simply drop me off at your home the first day we meet and never look back. They want to make sure that wherever I end up, it will be a FOREVER home where I will be cared for properly, loved and never given up. Looking forward to meeting you. ***THERE IS A CONTRACT AND REHOMING FEE OF $150 WHICH WILL BE DONATED TO PAW IT FORWARD RESCUE*** (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Siberian Husky in Arizona
Siberian Husky Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Siberian Husky is a large Spitz-type dog with a history of being used as a sled dog. Despite its ancient genetics and wolf-like appearance, Huskies are extremely friendly, gentle family companions. Huskies do not make good guard dogs. They are wonderful with children. Huskies do not like to be left alone so it is a good idea to own two of them. Huskies are smart but stubborn; they need firm training but may still disregard commands. Huskies should be socialized with other pets when they are puppies. Huskies need acreage on which to roam and should be sheltered from hot temperatures.
